USB Flash Drive saying not formatted..?

Hi,

I have a Memorex Poker Chip USB Flash Drive 1GB, and It shows up fine on one PC as "Poker Chip" in explore, and I can transfer files... but on my other PC (the one I'm on now..specs in profile) it's listed only as H: Removable Disk, and when I click on it, it says: "The Device is not formatted, would you like to format it now? (Y/N). Why would it be recognized on one PC, but the not the other? How come the other PC didn't need it formatted? When I click yes to format it, it says: "Windows was unable to complete the format"

I went to the BIOS and USB 2.0 is enabled. And Device Manager does list it as a Memorex Poker Chip..

need more info than that.

give detailed specs for both computers

are both computers on windows and which op system?

have you done a driver check on that computer?

what file system is on the thumb drive, what file system is on the computer 1, what file system is on the computer 2

PC 1 (Flash Drive works): Asus A8V Deluxe, Athlon 64 3800+, 2 GB Ram, 1TB HD's, Radeon 2600 Pro.

PC 2 (drive isn't recognized correctly) is in my profile,

Both PC's run Windows XP SP2.

I've used driver genius on PC 2.

As far as file system on the thumb, I don't know... It came with no literature. Both Pc's are using NTSF file system.

all flash drives use FAT32 so that shouldnt be an issue

I have a Asus board that does the same thing.I think that once the flash drive does that it is gone.Be careful on restarts,I thinks that is what kills them.I have fried two them.

I just bought this thing yesterday so I can flash by BIOS... I'm supposed to TRUST them to my system? I think I should just return it and buy a floppy...

have you tried the add hardware in control panel to see how the computer sees it if its a ? or not

you could try copying the drive to the first computer that sees it, if nothing else this will protect your files. you can now let the second computer format it so its happy then put it back in the first computer again to be sure it still works there. if that will do it you can put your info back on it, if it still wont work try a different thumb drive to eliminate the computers as the cause. it sounds like a very strange problem that is probably a bad thumb drive.
