Fixing Dead Pixels

So ive heard from different sources there is a fix to "unfreezing" dead pixels. Anyone know anything on this? would be helpful ATM!

That's new to me.
I have seen some LCD screen sort of ghost an image (similar to burn in on a CRT) but that can be eliminated by simply shutting off the monitor for awhile.

If you here any more or see anything online, post a source.
Inquiring minds want to know.....

Just press them with your finger and try to wipe them. Work on them up to 15 minutes and they usually disappear...

Wipe? Like with a cloth? What if you do both at the same time?

Yeah you press on them and move your finger left to right until they disappear. You can use a cloth if you want to but the pressure is the key...

Yeah, and you can screw up the pixels around it too. The best thing to use is take pencil with an eraser on it, preferablly new. Cut the sides off of the eraser so you have a small square end on it about 1/4th it's original size. Use that, and be carefull to apply the pressure to the dead pixel and not too much on the working ones.

Wow, good advice on how to kill a LCD. At least you'll get rewarded with some funny color variations around your point of applied pressure...

this process breaks the dead pixel so it stops showing any color at all and sometimes works because the other pixels color kinda blends in to color the black dot, but what your doing is your mashing it till it breaks connection with the circuitry and more often than not you make a dead spot when 8 or 10 pixels around it "break" as well.

rubbing out dead pixels as its called is a jerry rig fix like banging on the back of your old tv to get a better picture. unless you need an excuse to buy a new monitor leave it alone and try not to let it biother you. if it agravates you enough to go buy a new one then give the rub out trick a try, if you break it you were buying a new one anyway lol.

This is utter bullshit. Don't mind the funky colors. I did that to a stuck pixel and the thing sprung back to life and worked flawlessly. You're not killing anything. You're just pushing it until it works again. How do you think those programs work smart-ass? Are you telling me that stuck pixels cannot be repaired or what? You're probably one of those people that has to call a specialist to replace a light-bulb...

You call him smartass, when you have no idea what you are talking about. Yeah, it worked for you, whoopdeedoo! Doing it your way can fix the pixel, or break it, or mess up other pixels around it. If there is a software program that fix it without screwing up the rest of your monitor why not give that a try first? If that doesn't work, try my pencil method... if that doesn't work, give it the finger as BullGod suggests.

Because that program won't move the liquid around nor will it push the pixel back and make it have proper contact with the grid ok ? Dude if your headset doesn't work right and you can only hear one speaker are you afraid to bend the cable a bit? Eh? Maybe you will break your expensive Sennheisers... :shadedshu

i'm with you erocker, i had a dead pixel on my samsung 19" and the java applet worked in about 10 minutes, haven't had a dead pixel in over 3 months

I agree with you, I just don't want to damage any other pixels is all. Some of these programs just get the pixel nice and hot, which does help too.
