X2 3800 that will be overclocked.

It seems right on the edge to me, but with a Thermaltake 430W on sale with a MIR it is the best bang for the buck. The reviews of one here show about 200W pull with a Conroe, so perhaps it is good enough.

The Manual for that 3800 series card recomends a 450 watt or better power supply with 75 Watt 6-pin PCIe power connector.

Refference; http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...asp?deptID=894

Load page, click "Radeon Support for PC" on left menu, then select card, Download Manual, read manual, enjoy your new ATI product with no problems.

Looks like you should be OK, depending on that 12v rail.

I don't know man, I think you're better off RMAing that crappy Antec Smartpower. Antec will give you a NeoHe or something for it... something with Seasonic internals I believe.

correct you are, they gave me a neohe550 for that POS smartpower that i used to own... and of course the neohe series is built by seasonic.

as for the 430w psu. a high quality 430w psu will be sufficent.. a crappy 430w may not suffice.

As long as you have over about 30 amps on 12volt you are pretty safe there.

It is a different build. My Antec is the last of the un-crappy Smart power series. It works fine and is rock solid.

My friend is upgrading in a week or so, and I do not trust his POS power supply, it was a cheap 350W that came with his old beige case, now he has a Thermatake Armor.

As long as you're not going over 1.5v on the cpu and not overvolting anything else I guess you'll be fine.

This is far off topic but this has been bothering me for a while now... why would you use a Phenom in place of your awesome QX6850?
