1GB is a waste of money on the 9600 GT. Not one game substantially benefits from it, in fact in some situations more memory could even slow the card a teeny bit. The 1GB framebuffer is simply not used fully. Where you would expect to see it make a difference would be DX10 games, yet for DX10 gaming an 9600 GT is just not powerful enough.

Great design yes, but that's it.

Yeah, it's not only cool, but the "seeweed" cooler is supposed to be quite good. There is also a 512mb version too, although it's not available in the US, from what I could find. I'm not sure the cooler even matters, as the stock cooler on my msi 9600gt keeps it at 31c idle/57c full load.

Not for the minority that do heavy CAD work.

It looks like an ati! On a similar note has anyone seen this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129104

Talk about an outrageous price, I bet that 9600 gt outdoes this pretty well. And what is with the 1gb on the 256-bit. Thats what they all seem to do. When are we gonna get a nice 1gb 512-bit again, and I dont mean dual.

Well on that note, what up with no dual-core gpu's? Why all this fuss with two cores on one pcb? Why not two cores on the same die? Can they not make a dual-core gpu w/ 1gb of 512-bit ddr4 memory? Perhaps I am out of my technical prowess here, but it seems like the tech is there.

7950gx2 ?? 3870x2 ?? and the soon to be released 9800GX2. Cant see there being such a thing as a "dual core" gpu though, as gpu's already contain hundreds of processors

Well, a shader is not an actual processor. All Nvidia and ATI cars only have 1 actual CPU.
Some people are saying that he ATI HD4 cards will have 2 cores, but we can't know for sure...

Um no offense but...check the 5th post in this thread.D'oh
gosh darn. first Paulieg now you.
why do you guys like to ignore my posts?

anyway, back to topic, this belongs in the nvidia forum, not sure why it's in hotdeals, cause it's pretty expensive.
and here's mroe info on the cooler
MSI Special Cooler!
MSI constantly innovates her products and for the MSI N9600GT series MSI designed the brand new cooler with special ?Seaweed-blade Fan? and thermal shielding. The Seaweed-blade Fan applies hydromechanics that makes the most powerful air-flow and highest air-pressure possible at the same time. Compared to a fan-cooler with a regular blade the MSI Seaweed-blade Fan provides less noise and a lower temperature. The MSI thermal shielding extends the hood as close as possible to the bracket to decrease turbulence cause by the unnecessary blank zone. The native streamline shape also makes the air friction as low as possible, providing less noise production.

Hmmm a joke you say?well that 2600XTx2 is pretty funny...wonder if anyone actually fell for it. The 1GB MSI at least has seaweed cooler....and it's 9600gt. a little bit more bang for the buck than the 300-some 2600x2...just a tiny bit. :)
and no trt i'm not trying to be the forum police. I'm just saying, posting in the right section is usually the better way to go.

Yea isn't that a little crazy. I'm not sure what they're trying to pull there. That card needs to be sub $300 to have any chance. The 512 mb version of that gt looks pretty sweet.
