Place temp leads for case on mobo

Hey guys,

I have the case listed in specs(obviously). It has leads for temp guages on the front of the case. Given the wacky temp readings of the e8400(currently reading 127 degrees c), I thought that might be a good way to get more accurate temp readings. Per the manual, you stick the lead close to the part you want a reading on. Any advice on where to place the leads? CPU obviously, where else? Also, any advice on what to avoid when taping them down?

Top of case, bottom of case and warmest part at the back of mobo and if you can back of the GPU and inside the heatsink for your ram. As seen as your using a 8400 you might want to try to get one close to the CPU.

It was only a few days ago i noticed there was heat build up at the bottom of the case so i added a 80mm under my 2900XT at the rear which is over the other PCI sockets which took the SB temp down about 13c. I'll probably end up modding the case soon when i have enough cash ideas what to do.

If it's reading at 127 it might not be recognized by whatever software you're using... Try a couple other ones for accuracy, if they match-up they're probably good.

The ASUS Probe and Speedfan both read 127 deg most of the time. You would think a fix would be out there. I want to delve into overclocking but I am concerned about not getting good temp readings.

The case came with top, side and back fans and a space in the bottom to add one.

How would you place the lead at the cpu. would you try to get under the hsf(it's huge), or just close?

Your CPU has one on it already, most modern processors do.

Might be better to stick it on your northbridge, southbridge, or memory.
