I have an Thermaltake armor case that is HUGE so size shouldnt be a problem. Are these the ones that you have to take the mobo out and add brackets?? Those are a pain in the ass.

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283, you won't. The Zalman you shouldn't have too. And the cooler below this one and I din't have too. Just fasten and go, that's it

answered my own question

Xigmatech"Keeps my Q6600 around 38 C @ 3.4GHz at idle/ 56 C after orthos for a few hours. That makes me smile. :) Out performs coolers that cost 3 times as much.
Cons: It's f#ing huge. Barely "

Okay well I am probably going to go with the xigmatech. I will let you guys know how my overclocking trials and tribulations go when it arrives.

Honestly, with the Zalman and yes it uses brackets but it's very much worth it. I'm not a huge fan of AMD's design, and I outright can't stand push-pins. Using the brackets, contact is great, and you will be assured that it's perfect. Plus, I have a secret thermal paste method that can't be beat! Mwahaha!

Truthfully I wish I would of stayed with Intel. About 8 years ago I switched to ATI and AMD in leu of their prices. And I have had nothing but trouble. I wish I could find a good board that has nothing to do with ASUS. I really hate ASUS. Really really hate asus..

What thermal compound are you going be using?

I saw in your specs that you are wanting an x-fi, do it. Way worth it and buy a Auzentech. Their awesome. And made by an awesome company. I had alot of problems with xfi but it turned out to be a conflict with my mobo. Havent had a problem since I got a M3a32

i would use mx-2. I know the price is high, but it's worth it.

Eh im reading about it and its showing a 2C difference over AS5. You really think its worth it as I just spent $16 on this?? I mean its not alot of money but I hate wasting stuff.

Crackerjack I was just looking at the pic of your rig, nice. I think im going to get that heatsink now, you said it doesnt need extra brackets right?? Oh you have the same intake and out take fans as me :) their nice eh? I have one outake topside though and one in the back. I have a smaller lower intake though, I have a big ass side intake fan so I figured the smaller one would do.

I just was telling Azazel about the difference. ha ha

This is AC5 with zalman 9500
BEFORE

This is MX-2 with zalman 9500
AFTER

This is MX-2 with XIGMATEK (with a Thermaltake 120mm fan)

I also used it on my GPU's, the last image temps are right. But I was using better fan settings before.

why dont you crank your fans up? Noise? My cards run at about that overclocked. They have beasty heatsinks on them and a big fan though. I guess I see the diff. I dont think im going to get it though as a couple degrees isnt really worth it to me. Do you have any stats on load to idle times and stuff??

The 9500 isn't close to a 9700. I wouldn't put a 9500 on a quad.
