Is Asus M2R32-MVP good? I am seeing mixed reviews on Newegg but some good reviews on various tech sites. anybody here using it? How is it? Is it still the old reliable ASUS board?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131095

I bought a Abit AN52 board at Frys and thats a piece of junk. Might be exchanging it for this Asus.

Does it clock good?

How does it compare with current generation crossfire boards? The board is still 16 + 16. so incase if I decide to upgrade later I can still do. For now only X600SE:eek: + X2 3800. Going to use it in a server. Might buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819105146 when I can.

Does it support the B3 phenoms?

Want advice.

Thanks,

I would go with an AM2+ board instead, better chance that it will support upcoming Am3 CPUs, so hopefully you won't have to buy a new board. I personally was considering an upgrade, but decided to wait til new AMD & Intel offerings. But i was reserching this MSI mobo:

This one seems to be the most releable 790FX board. If you are gonna get try to get Version 2 of it, it seems that they were some issues they fixed in the new revision.

You just need to look up the board and see if there is a bios flash to support the QUAD chips.
When you run a QUAD on a 580x you do not get the QUAD oc options. Those you only get on the newer chipsets.

Now for AMD Chips there is plus and - for each chipset.

Clock higher CPU on the 790FX

Clock higher memory and lower timings on 580x

That's what I have seen.

Now AMD overdrive only works with the 790FX board.

did Asus quality go south? Then kings Asus and Abit are getting bad in quality now. I have to return that Abit board too. 4 months ago I tried the AN52 and it was crap. Returned it. thought that board was bad and wanted to give Abit one more chance and picked up AN52 once again. It was not stable:shadedshu and will not wake up from hibernate properly. S3 doesn't work. Even with latest bios. Tested with all the bios versions all the way till initial release one.

May be their high end ones will be good, but that doesn't mean their entry levels lack in quality.

Damn the ECS boards are far stable and reliable now a days. Put back everything in the ECS board and everything is fine. It won't OC but does what it is supposed to.

I will next time pick up either MSI or Gigabyte.

I know this is kind of an old thread but as i have owned the board for over 2 years now and am finally overclocking it. I would say it is a decent board. If you look at the ASUS website it supports the am2+ cpu type although i dont know how good of support it is http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=101&l3=328&model=1296&modelmenu=1. It is probably like DaMulta said with the quad core chips.

As for the overclocking it is decent as i have my new AM2 x2 5000+ BE running at 3.2Ghz 215Mhz x15 1.35v It appears to be stable only an hr into prime 95 check so... Im running it with a xigmatek hdt-s 1283 at 1406 rpm. Havent messed with the memory yet after the oc but its running at 403.5 Mhz cpu/8 5-5-5-15-23-2T 1.9v. I am running into the problem that i think is the HT limiting the oc because the multiplier isnt droping to what i set it at tho this is prob an error on my part as i just started messing with it an hr ago.

As for the x-fi i cant say but the new asus soundcards are supposedly better then the x-fi's so....

I just figured id let you know what i know. All and all this board has handled my computer well although it is kind of an old board now. I would suggest getting one of the m3 asus ones. As for the voltage thing it still hasnt been fixed unless asus is uping my voltage even though its on manual in an attempt to keep the cpu running.
