Computer has no sound

ok after wiping my hard drive and installing the nvidia drivers that came on my mobo which includes audio drivers. I have no sound still, I do not have the little sound icon on my taskbar and I notice I do not have nvidia mixer like I used to do.

Any help?

it might be that you don't have the right things checked in the Nvidia Mixer... or go into Playback Devices and make the speakers your default speakers

I do not have nvidia mixer now, i do not remember how i got it in the first place

It says under the Sounds and Audio devices properties, No Audio Device, when I try and play muisc I get a error saying
"Windows Media player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

Here is my dxdiag run. I dont see why the nvidia chipset drivers do not show up in the device manager. I do now know what i am doing wrong! Should I try realtek audio drivers, i sware i didnt have them last time, but i cant remember for sure

Yeah, that should be it. There should be some type of driver installed.. If you where using your cd to put on the drivers, there should be in there. Sometimes they don't want to get with ya, and sometimes you don't... How drivers are sometimes

if ur sound card is a bit only a "bit" out from the pci the card doesnt work. check it out

If they are not working from the CD,you can try here to download the ones for your mobo REV.

I don't think he has a sound card. What i would do is not use the drivers from the CD. Go to nvidia.com and get the latest chipset and video driver. After that go to DFI website and see if they have the latest Realtek driver, if they don't search for one onthe web. I hope this helps.

I think it's because I do not have nvidia mixer installed, when I try to run trouble shoot it asks me to open up my volume control So I click the text (it's also a link to where the volume control would be) and it gives me this message.

There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to control panel, click printers and other hardware, and then click add Hardware.

This program will now close.

believe me ur card is not plugged good to ur pci...i haved the same prob and when i was goin to install the drivers was telling me didntt find any product setup will exit check this

Your mobo has this correct? Thinking driver issue if your sure all your pins are good........

It's in your driver software CD that you used to install your mobo. See THIS link for the manual. Check out page 136.

And HERE is the driver for your board if you can't find your cd.

Don't use the drivers on the motherboard CD, download the latest from the manufacturer website. Like I get my drivers from Creative 'cause I have a Creative Xi-FI Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional.

I had to write my DFI 939 soo many times...I always could depend on the disc drivers to function flawlessly. the tech was old enough now not to relly warrant the updates. Im not against it by any means, just that the CD drivers will allow it to function every time.(in case of no internet connection at build)
