Would it be worth it for me to get a new video card like the new hd4870 with my current specs i have? Or would it just bottleneck it soo much i would be better with what i got?

I think you would be fine if you OCed your CPU a little, you can probably get an easy 2.5ghz out of it. You seriously should consider upgrading your PC to a newer platform than 939 though.
Edit: also depending on your screen's max res (if it's 1440*900, like mine) you might not get max performance out of it.

I'd wait until Bloomfield comes out. I'm in the exact same predicament as you. :(

I don't want to upgrade to a C2D or Phenom because I wouldn't get too much of a performance boost and I also wouldn't be able to upgrade to a Bloomfield later.

I'm saving up for next year when I'll get an octacore Bloomfield.

But right now, you should be ok upgrading to a 4870 if your screen is big enough. You will be cpu limited at lower resolutions. Also, the X2 has trouble calculating physics nearly as quickly as a C2D so those games will be slower.

A 4870 is a HUGE upgrade with any CPU compared to a 1900XT. It'll work well with a 19" widescreen. Just don't expect crazy high benchmarking scores with the CPU is all.

Not to mention, when you do upgrade your mobo/CPU, the 4870 can go with it.

Tis approved by me. :)

Hehe i'm trying to get the golden 125 FPS (or the other golden 250fps) in cod4 :p and right now I get 90 tops with 114 peak (i'm playing in teh leagues and my pc needs help on that end :p). ATM I don't care about benchmarks as long as I can play my games at top notch fps thats all I care about.

Also what kinda power connecteros do you need for it? i only got 1 6-pin pcie connector and any clue as to when ATItool will support this(even a beta is fine)

My X1900XT just died a few days ago, and I got an HD 4850 to replace it (for now). Let me tell you... The rest of my system cannot keep up with this thing. I had no choice, I had to get a new card, but my plan was to wait until I built a brand new PC.

Then just get the card like I did. Bottom line is you will get more performance, but you will not come close to the card's full potential until you upgrade all the other important stuff. At least you have a dual core anyway, even if it's old.

ok well just a quick question will a 550watt be enough power for a 4850? and will 30amps on the 12v rails be enough or do i need a new power supply to?

It's fine, as long as it's a good quality PSU. I'm still using my 3 year old Enermax Liberty 500W PSU and it's still rock solid. My processor has been overclocked since Day 1, and now my HD 4850 is as well.

cpu- http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29153&vpn=HD985ZXAGHBOX&manufacture=AMD&promoid=1088
memory- http://www.ncix.com/products/index....X2048-6400C4&manufacture=CORSAIR&promoid=1088
GPU- http://www.computeravenue.ca/product.php?txtCatID=355&txtProdID=3450
PSU- http://www.computeravenue.ca/product.php?txtCatID=580&txtProdID=3148

add these.

Power Supply: Corsair 650TX
GPU: Diamond Radeon HD 4850 512MB

you got some choices for case. Cooler Master 690, Centurion 590, Antec 900, Antec 1200, maybe Cooler Master Cosmos.

if you get the first 2 Cooler Master cases I listed I recommend taking advantage of the fan slots and buying a Controller with some quality fans.

also don't forget about a heatsink, monitor or other peripherals unless your planning on reusing.

You will be when you realize the E7200 kicks ass :p seriously I went from a X2 4200+ to a E2200 then E7200 and if the E2200 wasnt a big enough jump the E7200 was massive. And thats all with the same GPU, HD 3850.
