isnt it more rare to find an x850 pro pci-e that unlocks then an agp version though?

I was the first on that forum which stat to talk about the fuses (core registers) like a method to predict whether the last pipe quad can be opened or not and continuously keep an eye on the X800 fuses thread which was started later to collect data. But to be honest until now I havent seen any single case of success on X850PRO PCIX VIVO or not (opened to 16 pipes).
The only chance are the latest possible X850PRO's eventually equiped with not locked cores but nobody can guarantee that.

PCIX means the same as PCI-E or PCI-Expres or PCIex or PCIe or ...

uh, no buddy sorry but PCIX and PCIE are two different things not to be confused, PCIX is no longer a standard interconnecter.

but yes as the above poster suggested he made a typo error, even tho he doesnt know it.

Yes PCIX is incorrect label for PCI-E since PCIX is extended PCI slot. But lot of people use this label in PCI eXpress meaning.

Peta01, thank you for the time spent to "justify my litle sin" and for understanding.
The guy needs advise which PCI-E card could be unlocked to 16 pipes. Even incorrect the name of the bus (PCIX) or PCI-E (it should be accepted better) every advice to buy X850PRO VIVO PCI-E and to expect to open 16 pipes is wrong.
I consider that this is more important than the interpretation (in this case from my side) of the name. I have un impression that we are talking on same language but obviously I am wrong ;) .

If somebody (from the previous posts) can suggest me from where to by PCIX Video card please to do it.

No Luck ?

Okay Guys, i´ve seen so many posts in thizz forum and everytime we come to unlocking PCI-e cards there is always a link to the unlocking instruction and some guys keep on telling that it is possible to unlock those PCI-e cards. For now i havent seen an unlocked Pro PCI-e card?!

Has anybody ??

i have such a card to (asus x850pro/256megs) and the flashing only mad3 my gpu-fan stop. Uninstalling the Cooler just showed me that there are NO lasercuts there,
so i am with... who was it w1zzard??... can´t exactly remember..that the solution could be changeing some resistors os something like that. So it anybody has some ideas i´m willing to try with my card, if it could take us a step closer to victory *g

X850PRO PCIE has R480 core. R480 hasn't lasr-cuts. In 99,9% of the cases you will remain with 12 pipes on PRO card becuse it is built to be with 12 pipes. Almost all 16 pipe cores are used for XT and XT PE cards (which has differece on the PCB - more elements). With other words - almost sure that NO way to unlock 16 pipes on X850PRO PCIE. The remaining 16 pipe cores are used for GTO2, GTO and so on but not for PRO.

So the Pipes are physically there? Could you maybe tell me which "more elements" are there on the other cards ?? In my eyes the chips are pretty the same and i´m just thinking about a solution... does anybody know of differences of the resistors or disconnected bridges or anything else. I can´t believe that the solution is that "complex"... :banghead:

What the heck is the difference between the AGP and PCI-e cards...or is it just with the Pro models??

This difference in unlocking touches only PRO cards. If you have GTO or GTO2, it just doesnt matter.
A lot of skilled guys tried hard to find the way how to unclock those cards with "negative" fuses data, but with no success :(
There is a theory that there is a lasercut on R480 and R430 cores, but on the other side of core. Noone tried to unsolder the core and test it, because it is impossible. You must have a ATI factory to be able to unsolder the core and give it back without destroying your card.

Hi guys,

yesterday i dismounted my fan (again *g) and took a very close look @ the chip. And i found some suspicious soldering points on the top right side of the chip (near the core). So i am asking myselfe why are there no resistors @ those points ?? the whole thing looks like that this could be that "lock" because those pins are covered with soldering tin. Or has somebody another idea why there are no resitors there ??

Chefkoch uppped a pic of his chip and it looks exactly like mine and even the fuses (read out by Atitool) are exactly the same! He got an x800 an i´ve got an x850 but both with 480 core (I won´t up my pics because we don´t need it 2x)

DO NOT CONNECT THESE SOLDERING POINTS. They do not correspond to pipelines. If you dont trust me, take a multimeter and unlockable card with similar core and you will see.
