Polly. Don't panic. I had the same problem and this worked for me. Eventhough your card is not booting your PC is working so just imagine that everthing is fine eventhough you cant see it. Make a dos boot disk. Get a copy of your original bios. If you did not make a copy then get one online. Boot your computer with the dos disk. Wait until you are sure it has completed booting. Next, insert the floppy with your original bios or backup if you made one. Then type the appropriate command to flash the bios or to restore the backup ( check online if you don't know how. Reboot your computer. Do this a few times ensuring that you are not making any typos in the event that it does not work the first time. I'm confident this will work for you. Let me know.

looks like smoke residue does the card smell burnt in the area ' C61l' under the arrow .... from the looks of that pic the gpu is on other side of card at that location.. any fried smell?
DOLF/Urlyin any thoughts? did it have 'marks' bsfore you sent it back to ATI? can you clean the area and post pic.

For me something is sloped over the card. No sign for damaged elements. Check for the specific smell of burned and tell us. If no smell just clean with alcohol.

If you remove the flash chip I have one program which could load the BIOS from the external source (probably it will work) floppy, CD and you can try whether your card will work.

I don't know if it had that burnt area before I sent it to ATI because I just noticed it. I am a little scared to clean off the area becuase this may be what is needed to return the card. I am in talks with the shop I purchased it from to do something with the card... the shop owner told me that Sapphire is HORRIBLE at returning or fixing cards and that this process may take a while. If I get a deffinate NO that they will not fix it, then I will will proceed with the guide.

I will keep everyone up to date with the progress of the RMA so we can all judge the level of Sapphire's customer service!

STEP1: I send the S/N (as requested) to the shop on Tuesday, April 11... no word yet.

I have had my card at Sapphire for 2 weeks now. No word from them or my supplier.

Will continue to keep updated on Sapphires customer support speed.

Anyway i was wondering, could you help me with locating bios chip on my card. And is there anyone here owning eeprom programmer ?
