A new NVIDIA beta driver leaked today over the web space, enabling full PhysX support for all GeForce 9800 GTX, GeForce 9800 GTX+, GeForce GTX 260, GeForce GTX 280 and GeForce 9500 GT graphics cards. The download link for this driver is provided by our collegues over at Expreview. Download NVIDIA PhysX 8.07.18 driver from here. Also note that this release is considered a beta, use with caution and at your own risk. One final line before I finish, release 8.07.18 is also reported to work with GeForce 9600 GT and 8600 GT cards although they are not listed in the supported list.

It's beta, nothing is official including the support list.

PhysX support was never guaranteed for any card originally. When nVidia finally revealed that PhysX would be coming to GPUs, they never gave a definite list of what cards would be supported. Finally, they just recently said that support for all cards would be coming eventually, who knows when eventually is. You shouldn't really be bashing a company because you aren't getting a free bonus that was never really supposed to be part of the original deal when you bought the card.

Besides, like erocker said, it is a beta so nothing is official, including the supported graphics card list. The G92 8800GTS has been supported and working with PhysX for a while, as has some(but not all) 8800GT's.

8800gt supported?

The current beta driver 177.79 and current NVIDIA PhysX driver from NVIDIA are working with GeForce 8800GT, 8800GT = G92.
They didn't list it as supported, but it's supported.

I'm not going to bicker back and forth with flamers all day. I remember them stating when they came out with the driver for the whatever cards that they also stated I think here as a matter of fact that the 8800gts 512 g92 and all g92 and up cards would be getting this support as well.

For something like this, I'd say nvidia is acting pretty quickly to bring it to all the cards. I honestly expected it to take at least a year, and it's looking like it'll be a lot sooner than that. If it takes a year to support your card, get a little angry, but not like "I'M NEVER BUYING NVIDIA AGAIN" angry lol

Hmm, well it could be considered compensation for all the stuff nvidia advertised in many products that then turned out to be broken in hardware and non-functional.

Actually, they said all 8 series and up card will be supported. But again, they never gave a time frame as to when all the cards will be supported. And all your whining and crying is for nothing, considering the 8800GTS has been supported since day one, it just isn't on the list. So stop bitching about nothing.

all you're doing is fueling / giving in to an argument. You know how sensitive people's egos are around here, so a simple "the 8800GTS has been supported since day one" is all that's needed really.

Maybe, but it doesn't matter. If someone 'flames' him, then they are the retaliator, and that is worse than the instigator, because the retaliator had a choice, to look at the situation and decide whether or not to follow the same exact actions as the original culprit.

While I don't find what Tek said to be 'flame' material, you are right, with how 'sensitive' people are around here these days, I can see it possibly not being the most 'caring' choice of words, but why should he have to -type on eggshells- so to speak, just because some fart-bag with a chip on his shoulder, MIGHT possibly get upset?

And that last word really gives it perspective - "upset." If you're getting upset over what someone is posting then it better be worth it, like when you see someone giving bad advice, but this kind of stuff? No, sorry, it doesn't justify being a retaliator.

Back on topic : What's the big deal? There aren't that many games supporting it right now, noone is missing out. The games will come in time; the good news is Nvidia is ready, and you can jump on the bandwagon too. By the time physics of ANY type, is full swing in the 3d application market, people probably won't even be using G80s (or G92 possibly) that much anymore.

Actually, there was an article back in February that stated PhysX support would be available for the GeForce 8 processors. <HERE> The strategy seemed to be to purchase Ageia (creators of PhysX) and go from there. Anyway, decent article if you want to read it.

has anyone had any exp with these yet. Any game performance increases??

Wonder if it will add a few fps to games? Would like to see crysis get a few more frams. (mind you my gfx card is prob bottlenecked by my e6600 cus it isnt OC'd yet)

Oh and unless its just too busy, none of the links in the first post work. :(

NICE... right now the only way to tell is to run vatage and see if you have a 30K cpu score. Unless your UT3 has flying papers... that may be another way.
