Im tryin to use the built in over clocking utility that come on the driver disk, the one that lets u controll all the other options on the card.
Im not gonna bother wirtng my full system spec, if u need to see it u can click the link on the side, itl
save space an people time, but the card in more detail is:

Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD2600 XT, Driectx 10 blade bla...... 128 Bit( don't no what that is but it sound important) now heres the big but, 256mb GDDR3. (which im beliving is slower then the other GDDR4 Bruva) also it has the silent-pipe 2 instead of a fan. ooo and carn't forget a free edition of neverwinter nights 2 oh yay coz we really wanted that..... anyway

What actually happens is i try sliding the slider up in the options to over clock the cpu an memory etc an everytime i click test it brings them back to the normal factory settings. No matter how little i move it forward and in what combination with the gpu it does the same.

Im no overclocking expert and ive had a bit of help overclocking my cpu an its made me a bit curious about overclocking my graphics card. All i want is a little extra 'umph' out of it.
Oh and i dont understand all the complicated words ive seen whilst looking through the overclocking threads so please use nice an easy english for dumb people:p
all help or advice would be great appritiated

I have the same problem with my Visiontek Radeon HD2600 Pro, 512MB!
I have also "unlocked" the ATI Overdrive Utility and the sliders just keep jumping back to the default settings?
Are these cards locked out against overclocking or are they already maxed out and therefore don't allow for any further overclock?
Anybody have an answer??

I had the same problem with my old 9550 Radeon...until I got the latest catalyst drivers. That allowed me to 'unlock' the card.

Have you tried that already?

ive tried the amd one, it looks like a good utility, loaded quick, bit complicated at a first clance but if you read the help options then your fine. But still no luck with the card. Maby, like owl said, the cards are just overclocked to the max from the factory? I mean it lets me underclock the card...

try increasing the fan speed. if atitool does overclock your card, maybe you could change fan speed too

I have the same Gigabyte card but whit ddr4 memory. Whit older ATI drivers 8.4 when you move slider in Catalys Control Centar of gpu or memory in Current Clock Settings show that new settings but whit new like 8.5 don't but the GPU-Z.0.2.6 will show you that new settings still take new overclock settings.Of course you can use ATI tray tools http://downloads.guru3d.com/ whit more options and you will success.

the fan controller on the card is the normal three pin, i have a few spare fans hmmmmm i wonder if i can attach the connector from a 'not very good fan' an attach it to a better one that uses a four pin molex connection then somehow attach it to the heat sink, bearin in mind its reach like
70 C wouldnt that melt plastic? anyhoo wish me luck :D

if you attach the fan to the heatsink, believe me, that 70 number will not be seen again

memory 702.00 mhz
dnt fully understand but with them settings in currently idlein at 48 c which is allot lower then 70 lol

get the accelero it will do wonders for your card.

my card is an MSI 2600XT OC from factory at 850 core 1150 mem with accelero on it no fans since it's in a HTPC box.

on nice cool night it does 17C idle... depending on the inside temperature of the case it idles 24-27C day time. Never went over 40C on load.

From what I remember when I was hanging out in VisionTek's forums, the XT version of the 2k series cards doesn't OC as well as the Pro versions because generally the GPU and Memory come at the factory max, but the Pro versions are toned down XT versions, so they tend to have some room to OC.

ste2425 if you have not fan try put some on the rare of case parallel too graphic . Everything is about cooling when is cooler is in my room highest overclock I can get. I put another fan parallel with graphic card to blow a air to fan to improve cooling because temperature can get til 70 c and that is too hot even I have fan on graphic. That's all there is no spacial wisdom about it. Everything above 65c in full load regime is too hot .
