Whats better a AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz Socket AM2+ 140W Quad-Core Processor or a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor

i was just wander for my next build gettin them from newegg, don't know what one is better going to be doing multi. and some video stuff.

From my understanding..intel overclocks much better..giving you much more performance.

If you overclock a lot, or even a bit...go intel.

If you dont overclock at all, go with whatever one is cheaper overall (ie, motherboard + cpu)

I'd say AMD if you're not OC'ing.

Phenoms are great procs, and the BEs do well under light OCs.

The above posted chart doesn't even include an AMD quad.

There is NO comparison, that Phenom couldn't walk with my old E6750, let alone a Q6600..

I wouldn't call them that bad, they are very potent at video encoding especially at h264

Well right now NewEgg has the Phenom 9950BE for 176+ and Zipzoomfly has it for 179+, so I just ordered one from ZZF. Great price to performance ratio IMHO. Hell if your a gamer at higher resolutions for the most part, the GPU takes over. I was weary getting the phenom at first but for that price it was a steal. ZZF also is showing the new Asus board with the 790FX/ 750SB. They are not in stock but it shows that they will sell for 199+ when they become available.

ok thanks everyone for the input i will probally go for the intel becuase i made 2 computer on newegg with the same stuff beside like the motherbord and it comes out to about $8 cheaper to go with a AMD and im geting a SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 with
p5q pro, 4gb mushkin and a Antec 900
