Kevin Unangst, senior global director of Windows gaming at Microsoft, said the following: “Great Windows-based games like ‘Grand Theft Auto IV,’ ‘Fallout 3’ and ‘Dawn of War II’ are proof that Microsoft is delivering on its promise to provide the best possible PC gaming experience on Windows”. Whould the “best posible experience” for the PC gamer not be to have had this game same day as the consoles?

No, gaming experience is mostly unrelated to release date. Why would you enjoy the game less when you play it a few months later?

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
Some peeps move to the darkside and buy a console to get their jollies sooner.

I for one am sad to see shitty ports moved over to the PC after the consoles have had their turn. We used to have Valve/Steam to keep us going, but all that is changed.

Not enjoy less a few months later, but enjoy more if it came out sooner. Besides, MS secured this title for its Xbox360 why not Windows? I paid big bucks for my Vista just to have Direct X10 for my games.

I would rather see a quality game come out later than a buggy POS to come out the same day as the consoles. I am all about the quality, so long as they deliver on it, then I am happy.

Windows LIVE is part of the game, it's not a separate program

Its funny but for some odd reason, none of the games I have that has "Made For Windows" written on them actually will play on my 64bit Vista... I have a sneaking suspicion that it has to do with my Asus board and the onboard Realtek drivers lurking in my registry though.

Good thing i have a dual boot with XP on another partition ;)

exactly. The PC is the superior platform and should be treated like that.

when you try and load up the game, you'll get the splash screen... CPU useage will go to 50% on all 4 cores and sit there and the game will not respond and just stick on the splash screen untill you end the process.

Strange this is they work fine in XP... and on my other second gaming rig which also has Vista 64bit Ultimate edition.

ok, for GoW I've heard of Power DVD keeping it from working, so if you have Power DVD or something like it try disabling it and see if that helps

also, for GoW and Kane & Lynch. make sure LIVE is up to date, it probably won't keep it from running, but it's still a good idea nonetheless <link>

as for the other games, I don't know what to say :/

thanks bro... but i dont run power DVD on any of my rigs....
After a bit of googling and trying to figure out the issue on Unreal 3, it seemed that all the people with the same issue had Asus motherboards (realtek on board sound)... I have it disabled now but i think that its still lurking in my registry nonetheless which ios carrying over the issue.
