As an aside, getting parts during this pandemic is hell. I have an old z270 7700k system I am tempted to just move into and make my main rig... how bad is a fast quad core today?

lol stinger the angry status is reserved for me. I know I engineer things like a Kerbal but come on life, gimme a break...

The 7700K should still be a fast quad core. I’d rather ride it out short term on the 7700K then a first gen quad Ryzen.

If I can get it to 5Ghz w/o delidding it I may just be satisfied.

The 7700k sucked for OCing so... I got a fancy newegg order and restored my system proper. Maybe tightened the screws better this time, lol

Is it the same 9900K you had from before?

no, local tech shop had one so I just grabbed it. Sadly, it seems to be clocking only slightly over stock, ie it acts like the one I had before.

No silicon lottery win for me. :( My wallet hurts but my computer is like it never happened. That's nice at least.

That's a bummer, any difference for the Vcore? Less heat perhaps?

It is a little better there. I can run at 5.0Ghz allcore at ~1.35v, but that seems to be a hard wall.

Pretty poopy but not as bad as before (took 1.4v to get there).

Maybe when I go AMD I will win again.
