My First Build: For Online Gaming & Producing Music

I didn't know about the 16 bit vs 24 bit... hmm. What did you mean by it records only 2 channels at a time? Is there a 16 bit card with otherwise similar features as the 1010LT (like I/Os for XLR and MIDI)? By the way, my mobo was doa. lol I had to swap it. woohoo! ;)

    Begginer needs help

LOL I mean... for the new system. Some people like having multiples, like a monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers/etc. for each computer. ;) Though I might just be an oddball for wanting to have multiple computers up and running at the same time. :D

i almost got 9800gtx+ but went for the gtx 260 after three things added up at newegg: price drop, "combo" deal, rebate. :pimp:

My First Build: For Online Gaming & Producing Music

Looks like a cool card, though I don't think it has I/Os for XLR & MIDI, a must have for recording. :ohwell: At the moment I'm leaning toward the MAudio 1010lt. I don't know if it packs a punch for gaming, though it packs a punch for anything else audio-related. ;) Those are great sites...

I've been meaning to find my digital camera, I think it's currently lost somewhere in my spare room (which is presently being used as a large storage closet). ;)

My First Build: For Online Gaming & Producing Music

Acoustical treatment might be tricky at first. My living situation: I rent, have a noisy fridge on the other side of the wall to the studio, have very noisy neighbors below me (uber-very noisy), have 2 windows in the studio, the floor creaks, and this is all very close to a noisy gas station and...

    Question on flashing BIOS

I'm not familiar with Marvell... though a quick online search brought up that it has probs in *nix. I'm guessing somebody out there has it working. That's odd that it doesn't work in 64-bit V... oh, you said 64-bit XP. I've never used XP 64-bit, dunno. There are some cases where...

    Question on flashing BIOS

64-bit *nix is cool, so is 32-bit. :) I'm going to be running 64-bit *nix (and 64-bit vista) w/ the new computer, though I may occasionally install a temporary 32-bit system on the 64-bit computer. Wireless is hit-and-miss with *nix. Which wireless card do you have? If there is not already a...

    Vmware is soo cool

I think freakshow was asking how to accomplish it... asking for some info on how to actually do it. ;) Which steps are you currently unable to do? 1. Are you having trouble installing/setting up *nix? 2. Are you having trouble installing/setting up compiz? 3. Are you having trouble...

    Question on flashing BIOS

:) Unix = BSD and SysV. Linux = Debian, Red Hat, Slackware, Gentoo, etc. (technically, they're "GNU/Linux") Unix = Uniplexed Information and Computing System (originally UNICS, though altered to UNIX), it is also a pun on MULTICS, a predecessor. Linux = Linus' MINIX (minix is a "mini"...

    Question on flashing BIOS

How you are introduced to the *nix world depends on what kind of first impression you want. Do you want something as easy as Windows and Mac? Consider Ubuntu. :) Do you want the most unix-like linux (that requires some brains)? Consider Slackware. :) Do you want a totally wicked-cool linux...

    Vmware is soo cool

Unless I'm mistaken, Mac has an Intel-based version of OS X... I have no personal experience attempting to run OS X within VMware, though it would appear to be possible now. EDIT: nevermind, someone beat me to it with "yes!" ;) heheh

    Question on flashing BIOS

I'll update with sys specs soon ;) I'm waiting for all my computer "guts" to arrive so I can piece it together and call it my baby (well, my computer baby, that is). At the moment I'm using a toshiba laptop with an intel core 2 duo, it's not bad for a laptop (though this specific model is very...
