BSOD "Critical structure corruption" after Windows upgrade

Oh wow you made a thread here. Any issues since clean install? I was helping you in the other thread but honestly this is more on topic.

    Do you disable hyperthreading? (poll)

Not a bad idea. Beware though: It's easy to get lost in all the terminology. People assume we all know all this CPU internals like the back of our hand in the whitepapers, etc. Most people don't. I should write up a "laymans guide" to this sometime... if only I'd stop being lazy.

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

Like BSODs? Or what? Sounds like time to try a resintall if so. Anyone else want to weigh in? We're dealing with generic instability now, not really MDS anymore. EDIT: Nevermind, he made a second topic and the MDS thing is really done. No need to continue here.

We don't know that. Again, dangerous assumptions.

DC-ATX Direct Plug from HDPlex Lets You Use External Power-bricks to Power ITX Motheroards Without 2-pin DC-in

I mean, I see limited benefit in DC-DC beyond the ususl low wattage applications, but ok. EDIT: Oh wait, space saving! Duh.

South Korean government will ditch Microsoft Windows for Linux

Most likely the opposite. Open source helps with auditing. Most distros today can do anything I picture a government needing to do fine. I don't see them having much or any issues provided they don't game... lol.

[Buying advice]Budget 450-500USD, need waterproofing, wireless charging, rooting (A MUST!), and custom rom support. Been out of the phone loop.

Yep. They thumb their nose at the GPL and blatantly violate it with every release. It's really an ethics concern, and also just sucks for custom roms.

ARM Revokes Huawei's Chip IP Licence

Pretty much. Being smart by it's nature is kind of an exclusive club. It's by it's nature an elevation above average. If everyone was smart no one would be. ... Wow, I just basically quoted The Incredibles from Pixar. This has me seriously wondering which group I belong too...

After a Windows 10 Update Today Overclocking is lost. WTF Microsoft and Intel???

Imageprep, dism, or one of those MS service tools. You should call a priest with all the trouble you've had on that board. I believe it's got the devil inside.

You are complaining more about custom roms than root, honestly. And project Treble fixed a lot of that, because it's now basically up to the vendor to build the driver framework, and the rom is just a UI on top.

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

I'd do that as a last resort. No sense doing all that work if it's as easy as upping vccio/vccsa or doing a rollback. But, it's ultimately your choice. A clean install could fix everything too. Or be a complete waste of time. It's hard to say. I will say if the rollback works, just give...

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

You don't have rollback as an option? It should be there somewhere in settings. I think under Update/Security -> Recovery or similar. If there is one thing MS has done well it's the rollback facility. It should take you right back to before the upgrade.

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

I mean that just means a kernel crash. Basically, something wasn't right at the OSes core and the OS decided to reboot rather than continue to execute. Doesn't tell me much unfortunately. It could be anything. I'd up the vccio and vccsa to "auto" again and just see if it happens still (they...

There used to be a "provisioning bit" the carrier could set to allow tethering. Root would let you bypass that and tether, but it won't stop them from realizing a metric button of data is being siphoned.

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

I mean, that could be it. Bad OS upgrades are always possible, and fresh installs always safer. it is weird Prime95 wouldn't trigger it. Any bios updates since then? Maybe 1903 ships a microcode update with her, that could affect OCs. No idea.

    An attempt to decipher MDSTool

If you, like me, found MDSTool hopelessly complex to read, this is an attempt to dicipher it from somebody who knows a thing or two (not everything mind, feel free to correct me). This is an infographic (...in MSPaint) I made from a 9900k perspective fully mitigated and on 1903. Enjoy.

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

If you are OCing ram just let it autoadjust. If anything, only lower them say, .1 tops from what it chooses. You probably pushed them too low for your Ram OC (see above about Ram above DDR4-2666 being OCing. But I'd argue it's totally worth it OCing.). Some of the mitigations stress memory...

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

vccio and vccsa? I forget their stock values but having them too low/high could certainly cause this, yes. Technically ram is weird, because anything over I think DDR4-2666Mhz (IIRC) is considered "OCing the memory controller." That's why it gets all harder to configure those speeds. XMP is...

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

That's an interesting one. It doesn't sound like an exploit related issue though. I'd take that to a seperate thread as it could be anything from a bad overclock, unstable ram/ram profile, to a OS upgrade gone bad. The users here will be happy to help you in a seperate topic, though!

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

Just made this. See this infographic. May help understand the tool. Taken from my 9900k on 1903. MDS is more dangerous than past ones. This is a dangerous mindset given it's abilities and I we are trying to help users who want to stay secure here, not parrot misinformation. Just because...

Did i update my ME firmware right? Zombieload, etc...

I have been trying to interpret the MDS tool for some time. It's confusing, how it marks things. I've just about got it figured out but the short version for you is that is just telling you those above mitigations were turned on by windows. They won't affect your security. The exception...
