    Walking around Cebit 2013...

Not sure where to put this, I was on Cebit as usual and wanted to share some impressions of one of the oldest and still biggest IT exhibitions world-wide. Starting 05.03. and lasting until the 9th March, Cebit is still one of the biggest IT-shows you can attend. Pre-coverage wasn't that...

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

Seriously don't even try to get into "tweaking"...if Aero is all you have, I will not try to explain why using XP (with LSC, maxmem for pi) is still a smart move in professional benchmarking. Go look here Gigabyte just claims another astonishing 3D Mark 2001 result - on XP... :toast...

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

Yes XP is more efficient in SuperPi 32m - you can't compare Win 7 and WinXP times. Also SLI with 580s is faster on XP often. 3DM01 on Win 7 is PITA, CPU Score in 06 is mostly so much higher that the GPU advantage of Win 7 will not be enough to achieve the same score. It mostly is because of...

Winter is coming, time to overclock your computer.

That picture is a bit older. Must be one of the first 2600K together with 480 GTX or something like that. What you see there is evap temp - directly from the copper that cools the CPU. Usually you have 20K higher temp on the CPU in idle - so something around -30°C idle and -25°C load. Here...

    Smarter malware... Less technical coding

Good article! These damn little suckers are really clever these days... Still I will never get over the point why people with such coding skills are not doing something good instead beeing a pest for everyone.

Winter is coming, time to overclock your computer.

Sure winter is the best time of the year - I miss my balcony but still have a room I can freeze down to get the last out of the compressor or GPU :D

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

I popped in some Geil Evo Corsair and G.Skill Trident sticks and started the 16 GB "challenge". I struggled to get DDR3-2500 booting and 32m will crash on initial loop. Up to ~1150 MHZ there are no issues. Past 1200 MHZ it gets hard to find stable settings... with 2x4 GB 1300+ is no problem ;)

AMD FX 8350 No Stock Issues

Haha, I want one - good old times...first CPU I only want for blowing up under LN2 in absolute primary reason....5 gig air sounded really ok so far - please AMD stock it up and get the price down ;)

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

UD7 bios for OC is "F3" - not on the website but inofficial you'll get it here and there. F5d is really fine for all day - not a major difference in allday use. honestly I would have to search for the little details I was told F3 has...not remarked any myself yet :p

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

the old men I am - there is not that much of 4 GB sticks laying here...lots of old 2 GB PSC :o but I will try...cpu-wise I should have an ace in the sleve

    GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7 - I am officially impressed!

After 2 weeks of intense testing I had to admit - this board is really a nice piece of hardware ;) Summary: The Z77X is a very good OC-motherboard with a load of features and all important tweaking options. The buttons on the board come in very handy in many situations. The equipment...

i5-3570k : not bad but a little disappointed...

I was afraid of that also from the very beginning and it won't get better unless we see some serious decreases of voltage anytime soon. Regarding CPU steps ~10 years ago we should have 0.8V stock by now but due to the fact intel is introducing completely new stuph with IVY it might take...

Valve Recruiting Electronics Engineer for Developing Homegrown Hardware

They don't need a "Steambox" they need something portable like a "Steambook"! I would be darn interested in such project but I have to hang around the internet instead :p Not sure if a "classical" console part would be "new" enough to gather enough attention... And the most advanced...

i5-3570k : not bad but a little disappointed...

Finally some retail completely tested :toast: I think this is exactly what you can expect...now imagine the heat of additional HT...3770K won't do any better imo...(and YES I know ;) ) This is already Retail and this is what will be in the stores for the next 1-2 month at least. I...

    AwardFabrik / Team LDK OC Session 2011 - 1500L LN2 - 3D Mark 2003 1x GPU WR and more

AwardFabrik / Team LDK OC Session 2011 Last weekend finally was time to bench again with AF-team. Benching together in such a group can't be described, I let the pictures speak for themselves mostly ;) 20 Top-Bencher from AwardFabrik came to this event and had another epic 2-day session with...

Would you consider this a golden chip?

I am just folding with my GPUs haha :D But yeah you got a point there then. Well I think when you can manage the heat produced with the higher voltage 4.2 should be possible between 1.26 and 1.3V.

Would you consider this a golden chip?

I think your setting is the optimum balance between voltage, temp and performance - I bet you won't remark that extra 100 or 200 MHZ in allday-use but the increased vcore will eat more energy and produces more heat. I think the 920 I had wasn't able to do 4 GHZ 4C/8T below 1.28V or around...

Would you consider this a golden chip?

It maybe good but for sure not golden. Here is one from a guy in germany that deserves to be called "golden" around the same vcore as yours but 4200 MHZ (watercooled) i7-920 4500Mhz (watercooled, roomtemp 16C)

What component of your computer fails most often?

I am not sure why but I lost a lot memory lately in all day systems. My GF's rig killed 2x1 GB ddr after running 2 years, my own now killed 1x 2GB as well as 2x1GB ddr2 within 2 years and last year I lost a tripple kit hyper during benching. I am lucky with HDDs and GPUs for the past 5 years...

SandyBridge 2600K Overclocking - screens, hints and selection

Thanks! Thanks for bringing some light into that :) It seems not to be the same as the PLL you can adjust for the CPU (what confused me first). I really hope some time later we can manually adjust it somehow. I've seen a screenshot of that AMI Bios editor (I whish I had that but heard the SDK...

SandyBridge 2600K Overclocking - screens, hints and selection

I still try to get more information about that "internal pll voltage" function. actually nobody seems to know exactly what it does but it is the most important voltage for overclocking beside vcore. I would like to know what that voltage is with and without enabling this function, but there is...

SandyBridge 2600K Overclocking - screens, hints and selection

Hi all, just thought I share my OC experience and things I found out on my new 2600K with you guys so that you can see what SandyB1tch is capable of doing even without DICE or LN2. SuperPi 1m @5500 MHZ aircooled SuperPi 1m @5588 MHZ singlestage (my absolut max is ~5590-5595 but that is...
