AMD X570 Unofficial Platform Diagram Revealed, Chipset Puts out PCIe Gen 4

I wonder, why the CPU does not have any SATA ports on this diagram. Wouldn't it break compatibility with x370/x470 chipset based boards if CPU did not have SATA controller? All NVMe ports on this diagram (be it from CPU or chipset) are either PCIEx 3.0 x4 or PCIEx 4.0 x2 - that's what 32Gbps...

AMD Ryzen 3000 "Zen 2" a Memory OC Beast, DDR4-5000 Possible

IF speed impacts all reads from and to memory just because it is between cores and memory. Games running on two CCXs only compound the problem but forcing them to run on only 4 cores from single CCX does not fix much if anything. It is those delayed reads and writes from/to memory that are the...

AMD Ryzen 3000 "Zen 2" a Memory OC Beast, DDR4-5000 Possible

1/2 divider is kinda useless? I mean, you get very fast memory and have to push it through a thin straw of halved IF to CPU cores. Sure if IF at 1250Mhz is significantly faster than memory at 5000 then it is not a big issue but if not - you loose that gained speed from increasing memory...

AMD X570 Chipset to Feature 40 PCIe 4.0 Lanes

Remember X370 and it's "You can use SATA Express or SATA and free PCIEx lines"? While SATA is obviously not interchangeable with PCIEx lines, maybe they employ some physical limitation. I agree, that it makes no sense for me either, what with so many ports that would suggest (4+4) and declining...

AMD X570 Chipset to Feature 40 PCIe 4.0 Lanes

40 lines is combined: CPU - 16 (GPU) + 4 (NVMe) + 4 (downlink to chipset) = 24 Chipset (8+4+4) = 16 (of those 4+4 can be used to extend default 4 SATA config to 6 SATA config - just like in Ryzen 1xxx and 2xxx chipsets) Together you get 40 lines. It's unfortunately like Intel marketing where...

    Post your Cinebench R20 Score

@T4C Fantasy My score is with watercooling (AiO) and the 4348Mhz is a peak frequency, the benchmark was running at maybe 4148-4123Mhz on all cores with 4123Mhz prevailing as the core temp rose over 60C - it is not an OC like the entry in the table suggests, it is stock with XFR and PBO enabled.

    Post your Cinebench R20 Score

This one is with Retpoline enabled and Ryzen Balanced settings - 2700X non-OC with PBO enabled, 16GB 3200 stilt normal settings (4348Mhz is a peak boost speed). Retpoline enabled following this - https://www.ghacks.net/2019/03/06/enable-retpoline-on-windows-10-1809-and-server-right-now/ My score...

Creative to Launch Audiophile-grade Sound Card: Sound BlasterX AE-9

I wonder what are the DA converters in the Box or is the audio being sent from op-amps on the card through this propriety HDMI cable to the box?

NVIDIA DLSS Test in Final Fantasy XV

I would love to see one more comparison, DLSS vs TAA with lower textures and lower complexity - it would roughly equal what DLSS is giving us. What FPS would we get then in native 4K?

Intel Announces Cascade Lake Advanced Performance and Xeon E-2100

Well, they have UPI with roughly the same throughput as external IF links, so... But, yeah, they will have to come up with some high bandwidth bus to connect future MCM products and it will be similar to IF :) and it will be internal to their chips. Unless they will do some serious magic with...

Intel Announces Cascade Lake Advanced Performance and Xeon E-2100

While you are right that they are just glued together CPUs, there is one "problem" with that - cooling - will they be able to keep current clocks from 8180 or will they be forced to lower them to keep air cooling a viable solution. Granted, they are using 2 separate dies so heat density will be...

Intel Announces Cascade Lake Advanced Performance and Xeon E-2100

BTW, anybody seen that small info on last slide? They are comparing not to actual working system based on 2x48 cores MPC but to PROJECTIONS of its performance !!!!

Intel Announces Cascade Lake Advanced Performance and Xeon E-2100

They have tested 2x48 cores Intel vs 2x 7601 EPYC, with EPYC having SMT disabled, and their comparative old Platinum system have HT disabled too. No word on Cascade Lake having HT disabled though. More, they are testing without security patches (read small print below their results) on both...

Editorial Revised NVIDIA Reviewers NDA Raises Eyebrows: Our Thoughts

What would happen if in such a case, Nvidia mentioned, or even openly stated in response to your query, that due to the memory configuration it would work slower then advertised and they are working on a software/firmware workaround? Would such an information about the existing problem be under...

Editorial Revised NVIDIA Reviewers NDA Raises Eyebrows: Our Thoughts

If you are a staff member of TPU and your superior (chief editor, owner of TPU) signed NDA you are forced by terms of such NDA just as he is. If that did not work like that every worker in any company would have to personally sign every NDA that is presented to his/her company.

Editorial Revised NVIDIA Reviewers NDA Raises Eyebrows: Our Thoughts

I don't care much about this "for the benefit of Nvidia" stuff, BUT since it is a blanket NDA stating that any Confidential Information provided to Recipient are under it for aperiod of 5 years or indefinitely is classed as trade secrets, it MAY be used as a gag for any journalist that try to...

AMD Radeon Pro Vega Frontier Edition Unboxed, Benchmarked

How is 7120p in the ballpark of stock 1080. Look for 4790k (his CPU) and 1080 in TimeSpy results. His score corresponds most closely to 4790K@4Ghz and 1080@1850-2000Mhz

    TechPowerUp GPU-Z 2.1.0 Released

One future that would be very welcome (I think by a lot of people) is to have a Power Consumption meter on main page of the program. We have % of TDP on sensor page but it requires knowing TDP, power limit and some calculations to arrive at some number. Nvinspector does it and it is a nice...

AMD Vega Makes an Appearance on CompuBench

Yes, compare HERE that score to Radeon Fury (not even Fury X) that is also in the result database to be "amazed" by the performance. If we were to judge by this benchmark then Vega would be a total failure :( After all to reach 1080Ti level of performance it would need roughly 75% speed...

ASUS Announces Xonar U3 Plus External DAC with Headphones Amp

In times of popular (somewhat) formats of 96khz/24bit restricting the sound card to reproducing only 48khz/16bit seems to be somewhat stupid. Anyway mixing sounds from different sources at higher resolution and bit depth will always create higher quality sound output, less compounded error in...

Post your 3dMark06 (and Vantage) HD 4K Series Results

Do not use version 8_06_12 of PhysX, it's designed for Nvida cards specially, use earlier version. Other than that, in Safe Mode use something like Driver Cleaner Pro and remove all Nvidia drivers. This may help :)
