    Phone flash memory failing?

Update here: The phone died on 26th November at around 8:10 p.m. The battery got exhausted. I charged it and when I tried to boot it up, the revolving dots kept on revolving. Tried factory reset but no go. Tried flashing with ASUS flash tool. Flash failed and phone is totally dead. It just...

    Phone flash memory failing?

Thanks for the input. Thing is since this works perfectly fine now, what should be the next course of action? I don't have any plans to buy a new phone in the next 3-4 months unless it totally fails. Will it last that long? Next year on March, I will probably get a new phone but it would be...

    Phone flash memory failing?

Even I thought the same. But how come after re-flashing, everything is perfect?

    Phone flash memory failing?

Alright now, so it is now more than a week since this happened and I re-flashed it. The phone is still rocking. Can we assume that phone firmware can get corrupted on its own?

    Phone flash memory failing?

It is not in warranty anymore. It had a 1 year warranty and I did not extend it. The phone will be exactly 2 years old near the end of December this year. It is working fine now. I just wonder what happened!

    Phone flash memory failing?

But my phone was not rooted. Can an app access internal system files if it is not given root access? To my knowledge, it should not happen. And even recovery was corrupted. Edit: Even a factory reset could not fix it. Things got worse then with the keyboard app corrupted as well.

    Phone flash memory failing?

Hi everyone, This is regarding my ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML (1.8 GHz CPU, 4 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM). A few days ago, after 1 year and 11 months of excellent service, suddenly I saw that some of the apps (Play Music, ASUS MiniMovie) were corrupted. But a simple uninstall and reinstall fixed them. Later...

Occasional BSOD while shut down (Windows 10)

Hi everyone, sorry for being late. Was busy with too much work. So I analyzed the error logs but could not find anything. On an other note, there's a new issue. The screen would freeze for sometime and then monitor would go to sleep. After a few seconds, it would come back with the notification...

Occasional BSOD while shut down (Windows 10)

Absolutely correct. The system is otherwise rock stable in everything. Gaming, benchmarks, stress tests etc. It is only during shut down that it occasionally happens. @OneMoar - I will check blue screen view today after coming from work and report back.

Occasional BSOD while shut down (Windows 10)

Hi Kursah, thanks for the response. So far, I have checked RAM using Memtest, IntelBurnTest (8 loops using 16 GB memory) and AIDA 64 memory test under stabilty test. I have run disk checking on all the SSDs and the hard drives and have run SFC with no errors found on either of them. My...

Occasional BSOD while shut down (Windows 10)

Hi everyone, I am having a little but concerning problem. Occasionally while shutting down the system after some time of use, I get a BSOD. The error is REFERENCE_BY_POINTER. The BSOD happens after I press shut down from the start menu and it goes to the "Shutting down" screen with the...

    Sexy Hardware Close-Up Pic Clubhouse.

Took apart my laptop (HP ab221tx) for servicing. CPU was hitting 100 degree C while gaming. TjMax 105 degree C. Laptop was bought on November 2015. Here goes: VRAMs from Samsung: Realtek ALC3241 featuring B&O Play: Would you look at that! That's what HP did: Teardown: Intel Core i5...

    Intermittent "single" USB port issue

Yes. My BIOS is at latest. Version 3401. Thanks for the input. However, I doubt it to be a front panel issue since the issue is not there anymore after I reduced the memory overclock. There is no PCB in the front panel. Just direct wires running from the board to the port based on the assembly.

    Intermittent "single" USB port issue

I set the OC Mode to Manual. Set DRAM frequency to 2900 MHz, set the voltage to 1.25V (default is 1.2V) and set the timings manually to 15-15-15-35 2T. All in BIOS. I checked reviews of the exact same kit and took reference. Even managed to reach 3000 MHz and 3100 MHz. Everything seemed stable...

    Intermittent "single" USB port issue

I was using 2900 MHz at 15-15-15-35 2T at 1.25V. It should be stable right? Or am I missing something?

    Intermittent "single" USB port issue

Okay, I pulled out the front panel USB section and took it apart. Here's what I found. Honestly speaking, nothing is wrong in it. BUT, I fixed the problem. I reverted back to stock clocks for everything (basically only the RAM) and tested for more than a week. Just applied the XMP setting...

I think you should update BIOS first. It is definitely a hardware problem.

PC hanging in game occasionally when I hit opponent or they hit me.

It can cause freezes actually. The default settings are fail safe for POST so that the user is able to set them up. But that does not mean they will be 100% stable at those settings. I had a Kingston HyperX Blu 1600 MHz RAM kit which would operate at 1600 MHz 11-11-11-28 at 1.5V without XMP and...

PC hanging in game occasionally when I hit opponent or they hit me.

This is what you should see in the memory tab. CPU-Z shows the base frequency of the RAM. So 1064 MHz means 2*1064 = 2128 MHz. All RAMs operate at the same frequency so both of your RAMs are operating at 2128 MHz. Please go to BIOS and set the profile to XMP with the instructions given. Once...

PC hanging in game occasionally when I hit opponent or they hit me.

Based on your system specs, your RAMs are DDR4. The system architecture is such that all RAMs should be operating at the same frequency. So both sticks are operating at 1000 MHz. Now since these are DDR (Double Data Rate), the effective frequency is 1000*2 (for DDR4) = 2000 MHz. Since you are...

PC hanging in game occasionally when I hit opponent or they hit me.

DRAM frequency if reported 1000 MHz by CPU-Z means it is actually clocked at 2000 MHz. I think something is wrong in your BIOS settings. Till your friend comes and updates the BIOS, do the following. Enter BIOS. Go to the Exit tab and load optimized defaults. Then go to the AI Tweaker/Extreme...

    Intermittent "single" USB port issue

UPDATE: Problem happened today morning again. Exactly same issue. 2nd port not recognizing USB 3.0 devices. Keeping the unrecognized device connected while restarting the computer made it detect again and after that it is working again normally. But I am sure the problem will return again. So...

I think you are talking about pressing and holding the power button.
