    Suggested Blu-ray and/or DVD Drive(s) For Reading Failing DVD's?

As mentioned in post #5, the problem appears to be with the media within the disc itself; it is not a problem due to surface defects such as scratches, scuff marks etc. So resurfacing and/or polishing etc will not help.

    Suggested Blu-ray and/or DVD Drive(s) For Reading Failing DVD's?

The standalone DVD player also has problems playing back the failing DVD. What I would like to do is to backup the failing DVD using a good DVD reader before it is too late (if not already).

    Suggested Blu-ray and/or DVD Drive(s) For Reading Failing DVD's?

DVD readers were slowed down, but data is still difficult to get off the DVD's. The DVD's I'm currently working on have very little or no scratch marks or scuff marks etc, so cleaning or polishing them will have little or no effect. The problem seems to be more due to failing media. So it's...

    Suggested Blu-ray and/or DVD Drive(s) For Reading Failing DVD's?

Using a professional service to recover data is not really an option due to very limited finances. And discarding the discs is also not an option at this time. So I'm still looking for recommended drive(s) to read data from failing discs so as to retrieve as much data as possible (in...

    Suggested Blu-ray and/or DVD Drive(s) For Reading Failing DVD's?

I have some failing DVD's (due to deteriorating media, and not due to scratch or scuff marks etc.) which I am wanting to back up to HDD and to other DVD's. Looking for currently available drives that are known to be good at reading/recovering data from failing DVD's. Just to complicate...

For how many hours per day does your PC run?

My PC use per day varies from none to about 10~12 hours. On average, roughly 2~3 hours per day. I make sure the computer is switched off after use to conserve power consumption as electricity prices are a bit too high (where I live), and I'm on limited income at the moment.

    Intermittent driver crashes help?

Uninstalling drivers via the Control Panel or via the application doesn't always remove ALL files. So extra work is required to ensure all relevant files are deleted. Try following the uninstallation procedure here.

    Intermittent driver crashes help?

There may be video driver conflict due to some remnants of previous video drivers not being completely removed. Do a thorough uninstall and removal of present video drivers. Then (re)install drivers.

    Crysis 3 problem

For Crossfire to work (properly), the two video cards should have the same clock speeds (core and memory), and the same type and size of memory. Update BIOS? Possible faulty video card?

PSU or GPU issues on new build

I was initially thinking of software issue(s) also. Video drivers corrupted? Registry corrupted? Corruption due to malware? It may not hurt to run good anti-malware (Emsisoft Anti-Malware) and registry (ccleaner) scanners to see if there are software issues. Could also try completely...

    buying psu today! which one??

XFX 750W XXX Edition <- Single +12V rail; high quality components; modular Corsair CX750M <- Single +12V rail; component quality unknown; modular Corsair GS800 <- Single +12V rail; overall, above average quality components; non-modular OCZ ZS750W <- Single +12V rail; ~ high quality...

    buying psu today! which one??

XFX is a very good brand! Not sure why AMD would not recommend it? For 42A on 12V rail, at least a 650W PSU should be enough. But allowing safety margin, say 750W minimum. First preference is Seasonic (but not available at the stores listed), then XFX, then Corsair, then OCZ. Depends on your...

    thoughts on this new build

This proposed system seems to be basically OK! The liquid CPU cooler is best suited for when the CPU is (substantially) overclocked because the CPU then generates more heat and the liquid cooler dissipates this heat better than air coolers. If the CPU is not overclocked, then the liquid...

Sapphire HD7870 Ghz Edition Dual-X Black Screen issue on 2 cards now; help!

It may be a faulty card (hardware issue). I had a very similar problem with another video card sometime ago. My card was replaced with another which solved the problem. You could try another RMA and see if the second identical replacement card works better. Or, if possible, try to get...

Building a computer, low budget, need opinions.

I understand that there are dealers who will ship to Colombia. Don't limit your options to just eBay. Try Googling for specific components that you are after, then choose the dealer with the best (cheapest) option for shipping to Colombia. Overall performance of the FX-6100 and of the i3-3220...
