Intel Announces New Mesh Interconnect For Xeon Scalable, Skylake-X Processors

They've been using a mesh since the Xeon Phi Knights Landing, says so in this very article: If you're going to try something new, there's no better (worse) place to start than an expensive, targeted product used by the most exacting customers, on a highly complex core. If it works for a...

Cooler Master Announces COSMOS II 25th Anniversary Edition Case

You're not wrong. I had the original Cosmos. The handles looked nice, but after lugging it up three flights of stairs at Uni, realised the handles were no easier to carry it with. This is even bigger, thus heavier, especially with glass side panels. Won't want to be lifting it by the handles...

Blizzard Pays Generous Bounty for Original Starcraft "Gold Master" Source CD

The comments section really just shows how little people value someone else's possessions. Whether it's a company asset, or a personal possession; unique, or mass produced and distributed; worth millions, or worthless, if it's someone else's possession, then it's morally and legally correct to...

    The TPU UK Clubhouse

Don't know if you're able/willing to use Virgin, but I got VIVID 200, free weekend calls, and their top TV package for £55pm recently. For me, that's saving about £50pm compared to Sky. Got a SuperHub 3.0, which uses the Puma 6, but I've only noticed a few slowdowns, and latency is acceptable at...

[WTB] [UK] Nostalgic cheapskate for older GPU

Not a bad price if you have a Nehalem box lying about, and want triple channel. Was considering going for something of that generation before my Dad replaced his PC. EDIT: just realised you meant they sold one of a three-piece kit, thought it was a four-piece... Silly me

[WTB] [UK] Nostalgic cheapskate for older GPU

Bump! @CAPSLOCKSTUCK yeah, CeX can be a bit overpriced, but eBay is no better, and at least CeX tests stuff before selling. About the 7950 GX2, I'm a nostalgic sod, and would love to build something with an Athlon 64 FX-60 and a quad-SLI setup with a 7950 GX2. It was a dream spec around the...

    Found GTX670

Hah! Very lucky find. Definitely wouldn't mind finding a recent-ish GPU for free, I've been trying to get one for an upgrade to an old PC, just for some older games. Jealous.

Intel Readies 34 Xeon Gold and Xeon Platinum Processor Models

I don't think Intel will ever be able to cover every use case, hence why co processors are becoming more popular, and there's a gap in the market for ARM and IBM POWER CPUs in servers. They're probably just trying to get ahead early, and cover as much of the market as possible.

[WTB] [UK] Nostalgic cheapskate for older GPU

Really odd... I saw a post from NdMk2o1o, that I was about to reply to. Anyway, @NdMk2o1o, I'm so out of touch, it's hard to keep up with the multiple generations I've missed. My last build had a HD3850, so I've seen the 7770 in the TPU DB, and stuck with the idea for now. Seems like a good...

[WTB] [UK] Nostalgic cheapskate for older GPU

tl;dr: looking for the cheapest, newest, most powerful GPU I can find, somewhere under £50. Red or green team, no preferences. HD 5xxx or GTX 2xx series (are those roughly the same generations?) or higher, if drivers exist for Windows 10 (preferably). Hello all, it's been a long time since my...

Intel Readies 34 Xeon Gold and Xeon Platinum Processor Models

Not the worst pricing structure ever thought up. Depending on how it's taken, it means the Platinum 8180 will be £193,500 @ ~£23.65/g for 8,180g, and Intel will be paying off an entire platter of chips with one sale. EDIT: On second thought, maybe we shouldn't encourage Intel to do this...

Apple Announces New iMac with Next-Gen Quad-Core Processors, Graphics, Thunderbolt

Oh, I know, it's incredibly quiet at stock speeds! As soon as I up the speeds by 500RPM, I start to hear it though. The only real problem is that the heatpipes pass directly under the keyboard, which when at low fan speeds with the 9600m, means I can't stick around too long, else my fingertips...

    Post Your Headphones

Yeah, their lower-end headphones are a bit loud on bass, not quite crisp. I listened to some HD 598s recently though, and I'm a jealous man. Wish I had the money for those. It's a screenshot from OS X, I think it's the iTunes EQ. That looks like a very well-defined curve, and someone's been...

Apple Announces New iMac with Next-Gen Quad-Core Processors, Graphics, Thunderbolt

Love the flat laptop-style keyboard, but that's mostly because I've been using an MBP for like two years now. I do sometimes use a proper desktop keyboard, and it's tough to get used to again, my hands are used to the slightly different layout and the lack of real force of the feedback, but once...

    Post Your Headphones

I don't, but I love my bass nice and crisp when it's on. Plus, the highs are incredibly powerful, piercing. I really like that. I don't tend to equalise anything actually. I can never get the balance correct. Been considering getting a nice firewire DAC (I don't use the firewire port, so might...

    Post Your Headphones

Same as cheesy, I've got Goldring NS1000s, noise-cancelling cans. Pretty good, with or without the noise cancelling on. I get a lot of noise from laptop output, and these are very sensitive, so there's a little bit of compromise, as noise-cancelling ends up adding more noise when things are very...

So... Anyone itching to program a Game?

Not a clue. I've had friends at DMU (DeMontfort in Leeds), and mostly in Canterbury (UKC and CCCU), they seem good but can't be certain of others. Indeed! Thread-jacking is for thieves, and I do not wish to make myself look like one, so programming, gaming, indie, etc, etc. Yes... Not much...

So... Anyone itching to program a Game?

Check out the table here, as Brunel and CCCU are pretty close to each other. Aim higher than those if you can. Got a point there, it's much easier to succeed in mobile programming.

So... Anyone itching to program a Game?

Interested and becoming more interested as I consider it. I'm a third-year Computing student, I've done a few years of programming, have been considering expanding my horizons of knowledge, so let me know what you need/are interested in. I'll see what I can do. (By the way, cheesy, I'm in...

TYAN Announces S8225 Workstation Motherboard Supporting AMD Opteron 4100 Series CPUs

An extension to btarunr's answer and @FordGT90Concept: they mention "up to four double-wide PCI-E 2.0 GPGPU compute accelerators", I figure they're planning on this being used for mostly GPU and CPU calculations and tasks, and the four NICs are obviously there for remote control, diagnostics...

BUMPITY BUMP BUMP MCGEE! Can confirm I'll be shipping by DHL to anyone that buys it, they've got a pretty decent price for the service, in comparison to other options. Would love to sell this on soon, or I'll get tempted to use it with a cheap barebones Shuttle I spotted on OcUK
