    New Build: Replacing Q6600

I kept the fans, destroyed the harddrive as it was starting to throw errors anyway. The case isn't as user friendly as the current cases and lacks newer USB support. The sound card doesn't bring too much to the table anymore but I will still be using the Z-5500's. The power supply I used in a...

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

I figured that 250 would be enough for the OS and main programs while essentially everything else can be run from the 2TB WD black. I admit though I was a little wishy washy on if that would be enough or not. I'm actually not even certain if the performance difference actually matters in real...

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

Ok I updated the first post with the Noctua cooler.

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

Just curious, what is the reason to not get an OEM windows license? It's what I have typically bought in the past. Part of the reason why I was asking is because I've heard of situations where large coolers will straight block 2 ram slots. I don't have plans to buy ram with large heatsinks but...

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

I know it's probably a minimal risk but the lucifer looks really big and heavy. I assume it won't damage the motherboard/won't interfere with ram/will fit in a fractal design r5

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

I admit I was kind of avoiding the AIO liquid coolers because I had a slight paranoia about points of failure (I know i know, not rational). It looks like the Cryorig H7 is about $45 here in Canada. Maybe I should cave and buy one of the corsair AIO's like the H100i

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

I hadn't realized that Asus had fallen from grace. I'll go hunt for the Asrock mobo and make the change to the list. What cooler would you recommend?

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

So you think I should go a HEDT route then?

    New Build: Replacing Q6600

What is your intended use for this build? The more details the better. General use with some gaming and probably playing around with some VM's. I like to overbuild for what I need, I'm hoping to get a solid 5-8 years from the build with minimum changes but still like to experience what top end...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

I think as a Canadian I haven't a different view of the UN than most Americans. The US is a very powerful country and its participation in the UN feels like another form of soft power and global influence that the US can take advantage of (of course not always). Even the Paris Agreement was...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

I think you misunderstand the Paris climate agreement. It is a non-binding agreement with no enforceable requirements where countries come together to agree to attempt to do something for a common goal. It's essentially countries saying we have a problem and we should probably do something about...

I think you'll find this news interesting then, just released within the past 24 hours: https://www.carbonbrief.org/major-correction-to-satellite-data-shows-140-faster-warming-since-1998

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

When it comes to global temperature averages the jumps actually aren't very large year to year without an unexpected catalyst, however localized temperatures can have significant changes in those same time frames.... even entire continents. The graph in the article below shows a very consistent...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

Alright I'm going to try to hold out an olive branch here and try to apply some perspective, I won't use graphs or fancy terminology. In my view of the world everything can be quantified if you have knowledge and measurements of enough variables and many scientists also share that view, in many...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

I do read everything, unfortunately I simply quoted and read your response in the quote, which didn't show that you had quoted someone else to write that line. I also thoroughly encourage you to refute through research my points I made above. I would especially like you to debate CO2 as a...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

CO2 isn't a driver of climate change, it is just part of a larger climate cycle. Historically CO2 increases react as an amplifier. CO2 is however currently driving anthropogenic climate change in spite of other natural climate cycles that are currently taking place. This is not arguing...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

Alright I have returned just for you. First off i'd like to start by saying my complaint about the time scales wasn't because it makes the data any more or less significant historically, it's because the changes are happening at such a rapid pace the resolution of the graph doesn't work...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

You do realize that trying to measure a change with a graph in 100,000 increments for an event that has happened over 100 years won't accurately display?

    The instantly rechargeable battery

Usually science and progress happens in steady steps and not huge leaps. The costs have been steadily dropping and the energy density has been increasing at a fairly rapid rate. I'm actually blown away with how quickly batteries are advancing now...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

There is a clue from the article: "The Sahara Desert covers most of Northern Africa and it has gone through shifts in temperature and moisture over the past few hundred thousand years. Although the Sahara is very dry today, it is expected to become green again in about 15,000 years."

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

Those types of heat maps can look really strange because it's not related to how warm the area is but how warm it is compared to average. Could even be a case of a persistent high pressure system or a shift in ocean currents but I really have no idea at all haha

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

Indeed they did. However your statement says nothing about the severity or the reason for the recommendations. The way described in the article implies the IPCC was doing something either improper or incorrect. That is not the case. Instead due to the large scope they were recommending mostly...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

If you actually read through the report the IAC released it says nothing of systemic weakness. Your article took an issue with psychology papers, loosely quoted an IAC release and connected them. This is fake news. It's a tabloid that has misleading information at best and straight up lies at...

The fiddling with temperature data is the biggest science scandal ever

You're right, the IAC report does speak for itself: "“On behalf of the InterAcademy Council and the IAC committee that authored the report reviewing the processes and procedures of the IPCC, we are pleased that so many of our report’s recommendations were adopted today by the IPCC in Abu Dhabi...
