okay, got rid of CCC again. It's not worth the disk usage and clutter and uses CPU cycles... what for?
thanks for all the help at this topic. Back to bare drivers, Afterburner for OSD and monitoring (overclocking currently unused) and fan control with speedfan
- fiddling around with CCC and AB led to nothing
- reflashing original BIOS just made the default BIOS voltages become active but CCC does still not apply the want_ voltages
- I found this: "Control Center 11.7 Released [...] Voltage control stopped working" - any insights?
still amazed and...
I gave CCC (AMD VISION) a try and was able to lower 2D core clock to 126 MHz and 2D mem clock to 80 MHz, every value below these had no effect and were ignored. The system is stable with these low settings and no practical impact observable (feeding a 1920x1200 display over a dual-link DVI-D is...
ah, thanks for giving me the direction!
I have only the basic display drivers and APP installed but skip CCC as I think it's kind of bloatware.
a) isn't there a way to achieve this without CCC? I've never used it for anything
b) alternatively point me to some reasons to actually use CCC
my card (Sapphire reference 6950 2 GiB 21188-00-40R) has 2D clocks of (stock) 250 MHz core and (stock) 150 MHz memory and runs at a modified voltage of 0.790 V.
I'd like to lower the frequencies even further but don't want to narrow down the minimum frequencies by flashing the BIOS...
- what exactly does not perform well under Windows 7?
- which driver architecture does the realtek have and which does the Audigy have and which of the first makes it better than the last?
Also the DSP of the Audigy does everything "by itself" and without the CPU, unlike e.g. soft...
Plugged my Audigy in and, man!, this is such a great card. I'm using the kX drivers as they offer the most flexibiliy and tuning options and are compatible with 7x64.
Using the DSP routing I was able to route stereo sound to both the front and the back speakers as a surround copy and now have...
I used the kX drivers back then on XP x86 and was happy with them. Seems like they are also compatible with x64, so I'd rather use them than broken and halfpatched CL drivers.
Back to sound quality... which one? :)
Both Audigy and onboard have optical out but the amp only has analog in as it's a stereo amplifier (not home cinema). If it would have I would have attached it by optical... :(
tigger: what is your reasoning?
I have a rather oldish Soundblaster Audigy lying around. I used the card in the days when onboard audio was not so widespread as it is today.
My current computer of course now has onboard audio, a Realtek ALC892 codec (is that the hardware chip or a layer on top?).
I plan to...
May I add a note here? ;)
"Schwarzwert" does not mean how much your black is worth, rofl. It means what luminescence the darkest color (black) still has. It defines how dark the display can go. The opposite is "Weißwert", so how bright the display can go (white). The difference between these...
also having v-sync off means the card will always run at fullest power to generate yet another frame which only fills the lower half of the screen because the page has already flipped. This effect gives the screen tearing.
So running with v-sync on you're not taxing your gfx to the max because...
Yes, Crysis 2 has DX9 and DX11 support. However I prefer to run it without DX11 and only with the texture pack as the developers were either braindead or bought by the green team: http://techreport.com/articles.x/21404/1
whoops, missed the party it seems :(
Glad to hear something new regarding the different cards and BIOSes, that's actually a very misty playground. FYI I also own a Sapphire, manufactured in december 2010. Sapphire's product number for the card is 21188-00-40R. The card and the BIOS were very...
I have a reference 6950 myself and was able to change voltages with RBE. However i lowered them but in theory it should be able to raise them. Voltages CAN be changed on a ref 6950 with RBE without the driver locking up. Certified and 100% true by me ;) Whoever says anything else...... . What...
