Why are two of my hard drives running at SATA 3 instead of SATA 6?

I only have one SSD. The Asmedia ports do indeed allow the HDDs to run at SATA III, and I'm not worried about the slightly slower speed compared to the Intel controller because these aren't SSDs we're talking about here. A hard drive can barely saturate SATA I, let alone SATA III. I only...

Why are two of my hard drives running at SATA 3 instead of SATA 6?

Wow, I completely forgot that back in the day Intel couldn't have more than two SATA III connections. It's been so long since I built this PC that I thought the Asmedia controller was just to give additional (slower) ports, but now that I think about it I recall a lot of manufacturers adding on...

Why are two of my hard drives running at SATA 3 instead of SATA 6?

Both of them support SATA 6, both of them are in SATA 6 ports, so why aren't they running at the full speed? My SSD and another HDD (same model as one of the others, just higher capacity) are running at SATA 6.

Microsoft Confirms Windows 10 KB4524244 Issues and Pulls the Update

I have a self-built PC, and I haven't had a single problem with this update. I'm planning to leave it installed for now. I never seem to have issues with "problem" updates, they always work fine for me.

Microsoft Releases Microcode Updates Adressing Intel CPU Vulnerabilities under Windows 10

If you look at the KB article, it lists more CPUs. The ones mentioned in this post are just the CPUs that have had the microcode patches added to the update installer since it was originally posted.

Intel 400-series Chipset Motherboards to Lack PCIe Gen 4.0, Launch Pushed to Q2

Delayed? I already have one. I've had it for several years. It's got a Pentium II in it.

    What are you playing?

I've been playing through Ace Combat 7 on the PS4. It's the first Ace Combat game I've played since the PS2 era. I finished it and ended up buying the previous game on the Xbox.

I think I may have damaged my motherboard

Just because you don't see any traces on the surface, doesn't mean there aren't any in one of the many layers beneath. You likely ground out a bunch of hidden traces.

Apple Announces Groundbreaking Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR

It's hardly groundbreaking when they're returning to a form factor that they used five years ago.

After a couple of days, it miraculously stopped. Must have been a gremlin.

Mouse scrolling up sometimes when I scroll down

I have an identical issue with two completely different mice of different types. It's not a hardware issue.

Mouse scrolling up sometimes when I scroll down

I decided to retire the mouse I was using, as the rubber grip was getting a little sticky. I pulled two completely different mice out of storage (a regular mouse and a trackball), and both exhibit this strange problem while scrolling. While I'm scrolling down, it will either suddenly scroll up...

That card was the lowest of low budget cards for the era of this computer. Dell bought a crapton of them back in the 90s, and were still selling their stock well into the early 2000s. I've seen relatively decent Pentium 4s with those cards in them.

Unable to create partition in Windows 7 setup with existing XP partition

Would that work? Windows 7 likes to create a hidden partition for essential boot-related files, I don't think I could do that and have it work.

    That's a Tandy 1000 HX. Not a 286, though. Just a plain old 8088.

Unable to create partition in Windows 7 setup with existing XP partition

Yes. In the past, it's just installed fine and I've been able to dual-boot both XP and 7. But for some reason, this time it just won't let me create a second partition in the Win7 installer.

Unable to create partition in Windows 7 setup with existing XP partition

So this computer I bult recently was intended to dual-boot with XP and 7. I created an 80GB partition in the XP setup on my RAID0 array, but when I came to try to install 7 it refused to create a partition. I've not had this problem before. Can anyone shed any light?

Want to build an XP install that is low on resources

I have a thin client-type machine that literally can only support XP (I don't want Linux because it won't do what I want it to do). When the machine was new, XP was fine to run on it, but since then it developed some serious bloat and runs like a dog. Can someone advise me on an ideal low-spec...

    Audigy RX corrupted audio

I'm using a splitter cable so I can connect both computers to my speakers, and I've discovered that if I unplug the splitter from my main PC the audio distortion seems to go away. So my money is on either a defective cable, or that the design of the cable causes issues with my setup.

    Audigy RX corrupted audio

I've just built a PC with some old parts, and I'm having trouble with the soundcard. On Windows XP, it worked fine. However when I wiped it and installed Windows 7, I get really poor audio. I've tried both official drivers and Daniel_K's. It's always this horrible corrupted mess.
