"Rocket Lake" Offers 11% Higher PCIe Gen4 NVMe Storage Performance: Intel

I completely agree with your post. By the way the BIOS used on the Intel board is dated 17 February. Intel could have easily used version 3204 on the AMD board, which has been out since the end of January, instead of the pulled BIOS. I am sure they had a good reason to use a buggy version. smh

Intel Core i9-11900T "Rocket Lake" Processor Allegedly Catches Up with Zen 3 in Single-Threaded Performance

This is all very nice but Geekbench is pretty useless when it comes to comparing different architectures. This score shows a 30+% IPC improvement over Comet Lake when Intel claims only 19 (in Specrate2017 int). So this result is obviously not realistic. Looking at these numbers a lot of people...

Your “evidence” is a deleted tweet. Can we please get back on topic?

Intel 11th Gen H35 Processors Launched: Fastest Single-Threaded Laptop Performance

    1. The results are only estimates, so why only compare to previous gen AMD processors? No MT results? Well we know why, but this seems pretty disingenuous. Same old Intel (unfortunately). 2. 5Ghz Tiger Lake can only match 5.3GHz Comet Lake in ST workloads? This seems wrong. I understand Comet...

    ASRock X570 Taichi Razer Edition

I like that they moved the chipset fan. On my OG Taichi it is blocked by the graphics card. I still wish they got rid of it completely like Asus did on the Dark Hero. This should be a negative btw.

AMD Reportedly in Plans to Outsource Partial Chip Production to Samsung

It is not desperation. Samsung‘s 5nm node is at the very least better than TSMC’s 7nm otherwise Qualcomm wouldn’t have moved the SD888 to it.

Who had the best CES presentation?

AMD was just flexing. There were a few interesting bits, but I found the Nvidia presentation much more informative. Plus they announced that resizable BAR support is finally coming in March, so they have my vote.

Intel Has Fixed its 7 nm Node, But Outsourcing is Still Going to Happen

Intel fixed its 7nm node yet the first 7nm processors won't be launched for at least 2 more years. This is the weirdest fix ever. (NB back in 2019 Intel's 7nm processors were also only 2 years away.)

Intel Rocket Lake-S Processors European Pricing Leaked

The 5800X is £390 at OC UK and Currys right now. Was £379 over the weekend. You are fighting a losing battle. Just admit you were wrong when you claimed you couldn’t find it for €500 in Europe. Or that you are very bad at using price comparison sites.

Intel Starts Production of 10nm Xeon Scalable Processors

The 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor was Cooper Lake. These statements from Intel are incredibly confusing. Do they not know what generation they are launching or are they still talking up Cooper Lake? I am not sure which would be more tragic.

Intel Showcases 11th Gen Core Rocket Lake-S CPU vs Undisclosed 12-core AMD Ryzen, Boasts of Higher Average Framerates

It will look odd when the 11900K loses to the 10900K in practically all productivity benchmarks and only has a few % lead in games. What will Intel’s reviewer‘s guide say? Under no circumstances should reviewers compare it to the 10900K? They should have called it i7 11700K.

Intel Core i9-11900K CPU-Z Benchmark Score Leaks

It is a terrible idea to call the top Rocket Lake CPU 11900k. It will be pretty awkward when the 10900k beats it in almost every multi-threaded test. It is just asking for trouble.

Intel Core i7-11700K "Rocket Lake" CPU Outperforms AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in Single-Core Tests

The big jump is in indeed in the AES-XTS test which does benefit from AVX512 acceleration. The 10700K scores around 3.07GBps in the single-core test, this 11700K around 9.24GBps. There is very little difference in the multi-core AES-XTS test scores which means that the AVX512 reduces the...

Intel 11th Gen Core "Rocket Lake" to See CES 2021 Unveil, Availability Later in Q1

That is disappointing, but not completely unexpected. (Haswell and Skylake also hardly increased gaming performance.) Source?

2 TB Samsung 980 Pro PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD Listed at Retailer

FYI the 2TB 980 Pro has been listed on Scan as a pre-order since September. I believe originally it cost £443 with a December delivery. Delivery slipped to early January a few weeks ago. I considered pre-ordering it but first I want to see what the yet-to-release Phison drives can do.

ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero

I didn’t see it mentioned in this review, but according to der8auer there is a very interesting new OC-related setting in the BIOS called ‘Dynamic OC Switcher’. I didn’t see this setting on Nate’s screenshots, so maybe der8auer was running a special beta BIOS. Anyway, it lets you set at what...

AMD Announces the Radeon RX 6000 Series: Performance that Restores Competitiveness

The 6800XT results are without rage mode and SAM. With the same settings the 6900XT is only 6-9% faster which is nothing. The 6800XT is the card to get. The 6900XT is pretty bad value. At least if you get a 3090 you can tell yourself you did it for the VRAM. No such excuse for 6900XT buyers...

NVIDIA Allegedly Already Preparing an RTX 3080 Ti Graphics Card

My theory is that Nvidia are holding back dies on purpose. They got spooked by AMD and now they are planning a relauch of Ampere with faster models after the Big Navi launch. (And a refresh on 7nm in the 2nd half of 2021.)

NVIDIA Readies New GeForce RTX 30-series SKU Positioned Between RTX 3070 and RTX 3080

I am not saying you are wrong, but what was the point in launching 2 months earlier than AMD with extremely limited quantities and not leaving enough time for the board partners to test their cards properly? Nvidia just pissed off a lot of people and I can’t see why. Edit: it must have been the...

NVIDIA Reportedly Cancels Launch of RTX 3080 20 GB, RTX 3070 16 GB

According to the latest leaks Big Navi clocks super high, so I think it is quite the opposite (i.e. 20GB $900-1000 card looks even worse against a $600-700 16GB card if the performance difference is small).
