Your comment led me to this article. Interesting read: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20191108-why-the-world-is-running-out-of-sand

Acer Reportedly Hit By $50 Million Ransomware Attack

My organisation received warning of the Exchange vulnerability and we had things patched within 24 hours of receiving the CERT notification. Our logs showed in the following days however that we had already been breached before we were able to get to patching. We thus had to rebuild our entire...

    The PS3 Clubhouse

What a find! I can't believe someone would just throw one out like that. I'm glad you saved it :)

    The PS3 Clubhouse

Nice. I don't know if it's true or not, but I was told to avoid 'pausing' games to prologue the laser.

    The PS3 Clubhouse

Mine does too :) I have one of those. I had to replace the laser in the optical drive years ago which gave it a few more years of life. Sadly the second laser died and now I can't seem to find replacement parts for my exact model like I was able to a decade ago. So it sits on my shelf for now.

ADATA Explains Changes with XPG SX8200 Pro SSD

I seem to have another SM2262ENG + Micron 64L TLC: I bought it in Nov 2019 IIRC.

So not like these old Athlon chips?

AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.2.2

You may be surprised at the popularity of Quake 3. It is old, but the community is still going relatively strong given its age. It's not like it's some obscure abandon-ware - there would have been quite enough people noticing that there were driver issues and reported it, so more power to AMD...

Cougar Rolls Out Vantar AX Black: You Can Finally Read the Keycaps

Big improvement on the original by the looks of it. And hooray for the inclusion of a context menu key instead of a "Fn" key. Not too sure about putting the function key on the left hand side though... I tend to agree. I'm looking down at my HyperX keyboard now which has a much more subdued...

Intel Reportedly Signs Deal with TSMC To Outsource 3 nm Production

Agreed. I'd say Intel isn't exactly thrilled about having to go to TSMC for manufacturing, though for them to get through the next few years, competitively they've had to concede for now. It's better for them to swallow their pride temporarily, and in the meantime they can re-tool their fabs and...

Privacy Focused DuckDuckGo Search Engine Surpasses 100 Million Daily Searches

Good to see. DDG has been my default everywhere for the last few years. Search results are fine. Sometimes you need to be a bit more specific than Google for things that are region specific, but you get used to it by just typing in your country or area after a search term. I find the !bangs...

    Junkyard Build - Cleaning up a Compaq Presario CQ3250AN w/ Athlon II X3 440 + Radeon HD 4350

I finally found some time to come back to this old girl. I decided to paint the front bezel matte black. I filled the front ports and painted the strip with a gloss. None of the ports worked anyway; I think this machine had been knocked around quite a bit before I obtained it.

Metro Last Light (yeah, not that new) and Hitman believe it or not. She was the one to introduce me to PC gaming in the 90s after all, so I guess she's not your typical mum haha.

The show off your tech related purchase thread

I felt like building a new system for my dear old mum, who is still rocking my old Phenom II/R9 270X system. She's been wanting to get into playing some more recent games, and after pondering my options, I realized that I had accumulated nearly enough spare parts to put a relatively nice total...
