EK Launches Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 and 3090 Backplates

Maybe, but Nvidia will not sell those FE cards for long I guess. So this makes the audience for this even smaller in a few month.

EK Launches Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 and 3090 Backplates

The point is, I ordered my 3090 FE Special Edition block from them back in January. Back then I would've loved to get a silver block with a silver backplate. That was not possible. They are shipping my block as of now, just one day later they announce that you can have a different backplate with...

EK Launches Quantum Vector FE RTX 3080 and 3090 Backplates

The Block for the FE from EKWB does include a backplate! Only the included backplate has the opposite color (silver on the black version and vice versa). So to get a fully monochromatic look, you now can buy the backplate in the color of your block as well. But you're right, those prices are...

EVGA Precision X1 Adds Ability to Toggle Resizable BAR

Where in the EVGA Precision X1 tool can you toggle reBAR on and off? It shows you if it is enabled, sure. But toggling?

EK Launches Active Backplate For Zotac Trinity RTX 3080/3090

That is looking good. 90C is fine. The 3080 has the benefit of only having its RAM on one side and thus RAM can be cooled efficiently with the cooler. The 3090 however with its RAM on the backside only "cooled" passively by a thin backplate is a whole other story.

EK Launches Active Backplate For Zotac Trinity RTX 3080/3090

Well, GPU temp is only half the truth, because this is probably the package temperature from the GPU itself. Try opening HWiNFO64 and look out for "GPU Memory Junction Temperature" while running your games (or just try touching the backplate of your GPU for more than 2 seconds). :D I'm very...

EK Launches Active Backplate For Zotac Trinity RTX 3080/3090

This is about memory temps. No way your 3080 runs its memory at 24C, even at idle with 22C ambient. Well, they produce 2-slot, 3-slot, heck even 4-slot GPUs now. They could at least release a model which has it's PCB in the middle of those 3 or 4 slots instead of on one side. Then there is...

(EKWB) New Class of Cooling - Active Backplates for RTX 3080, 3090 Reference GPUs

I was going to say about the same thing. But those copper cooling plates are nice, where do you get those?

(EKWB) New Class of Cooling - Active Backplates for RTX 3080, 3090 Reference GPUs

I feel you. Too bad I have a 3090 FE and this only works on the reference model. I'm very curious on how their special edition block works with the hybrid backplate. But I guess an active backplate indeed is needed. RAM gets to over 100°C during gaming and this is while having a 120mm Delta fan...

NVIDIA No Longer Lists GeForce RTX 3000 Series Founders Edition Cards in Europe

What makes you think the 3090FE is the only one worth buying? This card gets so damn hot, even with light load. The Backplate hits 80+C easily, which means VRAM on the back of the PCB gets roasted with 100+C. I have this card in a very spacious case (CaseLabs TH10A) with everything around this...

NVIDIA No Longer Lists GeForce RTX 3000 Series Founders Edition Cards in Europe

From time to time they tease us... Same as yesterday. They magically say it is available, but hitting the buy button does nothing more than saying 'Redirecting to our fulfillment partner.' but never actually redirecting. I'll bet they have some serious problems on their website and trying to...

Is this dual 8-pin power at the back? That would be great!

ClockTuner for Ryzen Simplifies "Zen 2" Overclocking, Squeezes Out Double-digit Percent Performance

I just re-run it for the sake of getting the baseline straight. Without PBO at full stock settings, the voltage settles at 1.312-1.344V (SVI2) under full load (Prime95 128K FFTs AVX 48 threads) with clocks around 4120MHz. With PBO enabled, voltage is mostly 1.381V with dips occasionally to...

ClockTuner for Ryzen Simplifies "Zen 2" Overclocking, Squeezes Out Double-digit Percent Performance

The 3960X already has 280W TDP @stock. So the default PPT must be somewhat north of 300 @stock either. To do a proper OC, raising PPT above that is necessary I guess.

ClockTuner for Ryzen Simplifies "Zen 2" Overclocking, Squeezes Out Double-digit Percent Performance

Does anyone know what the max PPT/EDC/TDC limits are in CTR? ...and also how to change them? Just doing binary search trial-and-error and figured it must be: 400W PPT 450A EDC 300A TDC But sometimes hacking in different values for TDC results in a "PPT too high!" error, although I havn't...

Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD Uses TLC NAND Flash with Half the Endurance of 970 PRO: Product Page

Anything on price? Maybe the Samsung PM1733 is the better option at this point... These are available in 2/4/8/16 TB sizes and have rated endurances of 3.5/7/14/28 PB. The 2TB version is available for ~530€, 4TB is ~890€ (in Germany, including taxes). For a fast and long-lasting PCIe4 SSD this...

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Gen Overclocking Deep Dive, feat. ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme

I'd say with 2 rads (preferably 420 or 480) you should be fine, even with 2 GPUs. The CPU and maybe the VRM alone will be fine with only one rad. I also have 2 GPUs which pull ~300W each under load. I only have 4 rads because I mostly wanted a silent PC (idle and light load, it is whisper quiet)...

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Gen Overclocking Deep Dive, feat. ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme

I guess at some point more radiator space is not helping to get the temperature of this CPU low enough. I have a 3960X and have it overclocked to mostly 4.4 with the exception of 3 CCXes, which I only get stable at 4.325, 4.350 and 4.375 respectively. I have a custom loop with four thick 480...

You can always overprovision that SSD yourself if you create your partitions to 90% of the total available space and forget about that. In fact, where does all this "QLC is unreliable as shit" attitude come from? Are there any real tests or experiences published that I'm not aware of? If QLC is...

That's what ZFS and redundancy is for. Price is a point, but that will come down as well.

Intel Ready with 144-layer 3D NAND On its Own, Talks 4-layer 3DXP, "Alder Stream" and "Keystone Harbor"

QLC isn't meant to be in a bootable OS hosting SSD anyway, so you're good. But I'd rather take a large QLC SSD than a mechanical hard drive for storage. Think NAS applications and such.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Gen Overclocking Deep Dive, feat. ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme

This is probably because all-core load is much harder for the CPU. For instance you can get a voltage/frequency setting stable on one core or even on all threads in one CCX, but when you apply that to all threads, it isn't stable anymore. I've found that you have to back the clocks off by about...

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3rd Gen Overclocking Deep Dive, feat. ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme

@1usmus: I tried to replicate your results myself with my 3960X (now I have one at last). May I ask what version of Prime95 you were using? I tried this with the latest v29.8, build 6 and find the "Small FFT" (36K..248K) absolutely horrendously demanding in comparison to "Smallest FFT" (4K..21K)...
