For gaming I can imagine this is overkill. However working with big databases this is hardly unnecessary and well worth the premium. This would cut my work time significantly, really looking forword to the pci-e 4.0 drives coming out soon.

FPS aside I can see GPU activity, so if it uses the HD4000 or GTX 660. The web version uses the GTX660m standalone HD4000 even though I assigned it to start using nvidia graphics.

Nope optimus is not optional unfortunately, without you can't have your nvidia drivers at all.

Well hte issue is that it won't use my GPU at all, and optifine helped the HD4000 from 6FPS to 15FPS so that does not really fix the problem. If I uninstall the drivers I won't be able to use the GTX660 at all, and turning off the HD4000 completely does not work either because then you also...
