    Good Flat CRT

This doesn't really answer your question but it might be relevant anyway. I recommend checking local computer stores for deals on off-lease monitors. I've been able to get 21" perfectly flat CRTs for $280 CAD ($215 USD?). Obviously there's a certain amount of risk involved but if they're...

Raid 0 or Raid 1? I'm puzzled, need advice

This is basically RAID 0. A better explanation than mine can be found here. And a more complete discussion of various RAID configurations in this Arstechnica article. I don't know much about this but I don't think this would be a problem, since disk transfer rates are so much slower than just...

Raid 0 or Raid 1? I'm puzzled, need advice

Definitely but be warned that while your benchmark figures will kick ass, the real-world benefits may not be significant. I think Anandtech did a review of raptors in RAID 0 a while back, you might want to check that out.

Raid 0 or Raid 1? I'm puzzled, need advice

If your mobo has built-in RAID support or you have bought a RAID card, then (i think) all you would need to do is enable it in the BIOS and/or install the appropriate drivers. It is also possible to do pure software RAID but this is probably a bad idea since it's gonna require considerable...

Raid 0 or Raid 1? I'm puzzled, need advice

Raid 0 makes two drives appear as a single big drive, think of it like taking the actual platters from both drives and putting them together in a single device. This will allow you to use all the space on the drives, so 120GB x 2 = 240 GB, and in theory this should double your access speed so...

    New Intel Dual-Core Information

It's the same as having two full processors - if you want any single program to make use of both cores, then yes the software must be written with SMP in mind. However, as long as your OS is SMP aware, then you still get the advantage of having different programs running on different cores.

    Memory Timing Question

My guess is taking the 2700 to 3200, but the best solution is to try out both options and see what works best.

    Dual Channel?

You also need to make sure that the RAM is in the correct two slots, check your mobo manual to find out which two.

    New ATi-Linux drivers 3.14.1

Although not officially supported, they do work just as well with most 2.6 kernels as with 2.4.

    New ATi-Linux drivers 3.14.1

Now that OpenGL 2.0 is finally out we might see more game developers switching away from DirectX ('course I'm not holding my breath), which is really all that's holding back linux from being a gaming platform. Well, that and linux drivers from ATI that don't suck, but I'm sure they'd jump on...

    amd athlon xp 2800+

The reason that AMD brands it as a 2800+ is because they believe (or want you to believe) that it is equivalent to a 2.8 GHz P4. Generally speaking, this is fairly accurate. If you want the details here's one early review of the 2800+ including comparisons to several P4s. Google around and...

    hard modding a 2500+

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that only worked with older AMD processors. The packaging of the Bartons was changed to elminate the trick.

How do I know if my RAM is running at dual channel

I think the correct slots to put the RAM in varies depending on the board, so make sure you actually check your manual. Also, at least some BIOSs will flash a little message during bootup that will indicate if Dual DDR is enabled.

What to upgrade next? Help Please :)

There will be virtually no performance difference between the SATA and non-SATA version of the same hard drive. I would definitely upgrade the RAM, your PC2100 is seriously holding back the rest of your system.

How to clean off dust from PC components?

You can buy little cans of compressed air specifically made for safely removing dust from computer components. I'm sure google can help you find something in your area.

Yep, this sounds right. If you can afford it, getting more system RAM should help a lot.

Not quite. The Semprons are based on the Athlon XP but have half the cache, and adjusted clock/bus speeds. Check it out at Ars Technica.

I don't know what he's think of because moving from a 9800 to an X800Pro will help a lot.

This isn't a big deal but since you asked... Because the "News" and "Reviews" forums have the same names in the English and German Forum sections, articles in them which also have the same name can't be distinguished. For example, when I click "New Posts", I see "ATI Cataylst 4.8" show...
