    Just checked on http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=8&subid=1389 and highest density they have for tri channel is 3 x 4gig=12gig, has your friend still got the memory he was using in that M/B and did he have it running in Tri channel?

    If M/B only supports S-ATA 2 those speeds seem about right, also have you got the latest BIOS cos the QVL shows 2gig as highest density of memory, maybe memory controller can't handle the higher density of your sticks? White slots correct according to manual

    According to this review http://www.trustedreviews.com/Gigabyte-GA-EX58-UD4P_PC-Component_review this M/B only supports 24gig of Triple channel memory and you have 32gig installed, not sure if it makes any difference but maybe take a stick out and make sure the other 3 sticks are in the right...
