    Cougar Conquer

Not a case for me, but I applaud Cougar for having a complete top to bottom theme. Like, you won't pull off the side panels and see a 10+ year old frame that has been re-skinned countless times.

WCG 13th Birthday Challenge- Grand prize Opt-In (check the OP for eligibility list)

I got the last big prize and a challenge prize this time. Opting out so that others get a shot.

    Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition

Nice, will buy. Haven't pulled it out in a long long time so my memory of it is hazy. Unlike the StarCraft remaster where I know what's coming next, I anticipate some nostalgic surprises with this one.

[US] WD - Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black $130

Just delivered. Still in the enclosure at the moment so I don't know the exact model drive yet, but a transfer of a 10GB file puts it near the sequential performance of a current-gen Red. Power via cable might be possible because of the USB 3.0 Micro-B port, but it didn't work when I...

System unresponsive at max RAM usage

While a good deal of work has been put into the Linux Subsystem regarding memory and swap management in the last year, there are still a few things the devs acknowledge are not completely handled yet. Now, I don't know whether or not mothur or it's dependencies are one of these fringe cases or...

CORSAIR Builds the World's Fastest 32GB 4x8GB DDR4 Memory Kit

Ok, my attempt at small talk is going poorly (as it usually does in my life), I'll just see myself out... :)

Yes, I'm well aware. That's why I said lawyer - someone who is not concerned with the technical aspect but the fine print.

Why was I so positive 16:10 was the future of gaming? ... 21:9 is king?

I choose for the present :) Bought a 1920x1200 monitor many years ago as it best for me at the time. - Fullscreen games looked great. - Windowed games allowed me to keep the task bar visible for easy switching while they ran at ~1920x1080. - Good 4:3 compatibility (1600x1200) Last year I moved...

    TPU's Nostalgic Hardware Club

I'm drawing a blank on a good modern example, though I've only gotten around to a fraction of my Steam library. StarCraft Remastered has me drawn in, playing the campaign for the who-knows-how-many time.

    TPU's Nostalgic Hardware Club

My first keyboard, a Gateway 2000 Anykey from 1994. The 8-way directional keys did help a few games, Civilization II being one because of it's angled grid layout. Could also use your thumb for the back/down key without getting a cramp. We're still a couple years away from Quake at this time...

CRYORIG Enters Case Market With the Taku Monitor Stand ITX Case

Love the look, but not so much the price. Including a high-end SFX unit with a cable set designed for it would help justify the price. Otherwise would have to drop at least $100 for me to consider it.

[US] WD - Easystore 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive - Black $130

Thank you, just bought one. Actually comes out a little cheaper than the 4TB I bought a couple months ago.

Case Labs ITX motherboard mount (Mercury S3 version). Not ready for an ITX project, but wanted to have it around for when I am. It takes Case Labs a few weeks to produce their items after you order.

What's on your hardware wish list ?

I've been wanting one for awhile, but not so much that I've gone ahead and bought it yet. With HBO/Netflix/Hulu I only switch over to antenna when it's locked behind a cable sub or (re)streamed poorly. Probably only a dozen times a year.

    Free Games Thread

Tempted to give it a second chance after 16 years. As a huge Civ II fan I bought Civ III sight unseen but found the game underwhelming upon release. The Collectors Edition didn't bring much excitement either, I was certainly spoiled by the Diablo II Collectors Edition Blizzard had put out a...

Are VPNs a must have now days

I use one to get around throttling by my ISP, or at least I did. It's down to just YouTube now as I can't use Netflix with PIA on anymore. HBO Now has already started to grumble about it as well, sometimes it works and sometimes it's blocked. If I get around to it, will get a hosted VM and do...

    Dual channel with 1x2GB + 1x4GB sticks?

I can go back to about 1999, though no knocks to your noggin for not knowing this nugget of knowledge. Micron's successor to their Samurai chipset was the Samurai DDR. If it had a commercial release, we would have seen multi-channel DDR before single...

    Dual channel with 1x2GB + 1x4GB sticks?

Probably so. I was getting out of selling computers right around the time nForce 2 came around, and sold only a fraction of them compared to nForce. In other words, while I still have nForce whitepapers burned into memory, I don't recall as much about the nForce 2.

    Dual channel with 1x2GB + 1x4GB sticks?

Very well might be if that's where you started with computers. A bit before 775 was nVidia's nForce 415 and 420 chipsets (2001) with TwinBank. You could fill all 3 slots found on most boards with 3 different sizes and still have "dual channel".

Antec Announces the P110 Luce Chassis
