    I don't recall any significant pushback when Intel bought Altera (Xilinx's main competitor). ARM is different largely because of how dependent the world is on ARM technology, and NVIDIA's reputation for abusing it's market position to stifle competition. They aren't comparable at all.

    I don't have the exact core sizes, but Zen2 CCD is 72mm2 whilst a Zen3 CCD is around 84mm2 with the same core count and cache on the same process.     Where did you get Navi22 being 251mm2 from? That is the size of the 5700XT (Navi 12). Navi 22 is apparently 334mm2 (Navi 21 aka 6800/6900 is 520mm2). It is also on a much more expensive process than Polaris (7nm versus 12nm) so the die cost is likely double that of Polaris.
