This gpu would be far faster than anything I have and a serious upgrade. I primarily need gpu power to just look at high-res pdfs for work.

I'd think that keeping it cooler would help with your goal, so if the cpu and case fans aren't already at 100%, I'd manually set them to 100% and see if that helps. Aside from that, you may need to do a cooler upgrade.
Never scrap a working system. The parts are worth more than the whole.
In another decade or so, that system will be worth a lot since that case will be next to impossible to find, nor will working parts. You could think of it as an 'investment'. :D
If the kit is easily shippable (can re-use the boxes, etc), I'll do it. I have a UPS account with discounts too so shipping even heavy stuff here domestically won't be bad. :toast: But I'll need to plan it out as I travel for work as well.

You might find one or two here, but what you're looking for is an off-lease distributor. Check the large resellers ebay who have a web site and talk to them. They're typically buying straight from companies in pallets so they probably can supply you.
Another good source would be government...
This includes the price of the 500gb ssd or you'll include it? I have a sata cloning dock that's really good for this sort of thing and can do it for $35 if you've got the drives and cover the shipping.
