AMD ends driver support for R9 Fury and Radeon 200, 300 series???

Aye. While Fury X was was a cool concept I feel like it was too ahead of its time just like how 290/X was an over-engineered card. Besides, for the cards I mentioned I was targeting 1080p. Not to mention the price and age of said cards. Though I guess 390 would better fit that description...

AMD ends driver support for R9 Fury and Radeon 200, 300 series???

290/X was still cool like 5 years ago. It will always function as a decent space heater for anyone scared it might ever stop working or be useful for anything else. 480/970 is pretty much where I draw the line for minimum specs these days.

EU Changes VAT Rules for Imported Products; Everything to be Taxed Independent of Value

Brexit + this = no point buying anything from the UK now. I bet they're really happy over there. I wonder how this will effect amazon.co.jp or stuff bought on ebay from JP/KR. Perhaps it'll be cheaper to fly over instead having it shipped directly. I mean this is how you could circumvent the...

The Next Battlefield is Battlefield 2042 Set in World War 3

Respawning has never been a thing in real life, nor has it been possible to repair an aircraft midflight. Or having one person controlling an entire tank. But in Battlefield: Your dreams will become true, that is a possibility. I mean remember when norwegians slaughtered nazi armies when they...

The Next Battlefield is Battlefield 2042 Set in World War 3

Tanks in WW3 when you have ICBMs... okay.... The only war that works in this day and age are proxy wars. And those tend to be smaller than most Call of Battlefield maps.

AMD Breaks 30% CPU Market Share in Steam Hardware Survey

Are you talking about Radeon HD 6900 Series? Because there is no 6900/XT, 6800 nor 6700 (unless you're going down memory lane..?) found via https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/ but the 3090 is there. I mean I know having an 6950 unlocked to a 6970 was cool, but that was some 10...

AMD Breaks 30% CPU Market Share in Steam Hardware Survey

I remember when 290/X (Assuming you flashed your bios a la XX50->XX70) was the top AMD card for 4~ years straight later getting "replaced" by 390/480/580 while Vega was a flop and then you had 5700/XT that came out much much later. Perhaps we'll see something similar come RDNA 3. But until that...

Nintendo Switch Pro Allegedly Launching in September

Since we already have Jetson Xavier devkits it doesn't take a genius to figure out what we're getting. I just hope they use the same specs as https://developer.nvidia.com/embedded/jetson-xavier-nx-devkit The shift from 10-15 W TDP to 30 W TDP (when docked) will be quite the gamechanger as well...

USB-IF Updates USB-C Standard to Support up to 240 Watt Power Delivery

If people were scared of <20 W chargers going boom, then this is just gonna get "way better". Not to mention pumping over 200 W into a small circuit and/or battery with safety measures that barely covers the current 100 W limit. If you have a 90 W charger then you know what I'm talking about.

Intel to Detail "Alder Lake" and "Sapphire Rapids" Microarchitectures at Hot Chips 33, This August

Most "everyday" apps and services (i.e drivers) are still single threaded though and live on as 32bit even in 2021 let alone 2025 and beyond. I have purged most UWP apps myself so most services only need 1 thread they all can share that they will never ever be fully utilized. So why would 7 more...

Intel to Detail "Alder Lake" and "Sapphire Rapids" Microarchitectures at Hot Chips 33, This August

Let's say you have 16 threads, and 8 of those is used for rendering (or anything else i.e compiling) while the others are used for gaming. How is the smaller cores gonna help in this situation? Let alone if you start doing other things like running YouTube or whatever in the background. With...

New Spectre Vulnerability Version Beats All Mitigations, Performance to Badly Degrade After the Fix

More or less. I mean I can only steal your car if I have physical access to it. This makes all cars unsafe, and we better ban/remove all cars to remove said threat. Obviously we could patch the car by putting it in a bunker, therefor making said car less useful. But that's obviously the best...

AMD X570S Motherboard Spotted Alongside Ryzen 7 5700G APU

I would love to use my 300 iq move and defacto remove the one that is built into the X570-E. But that's not exactly a 30 second job now is it? Instead I should buy a separate addon-card and not hope that the vendor provides it for me just like it did before because that's not obviously the...
