Case of the Disappearing 3TB Hard Drives...

Well I updated the BIOS and reinstalled Windows 7 and it hasn't happened since. So I'm not sure what one of those things fixed it. The BIOS was very old and had a handful up updates since.

Case of the Disappearing 3TB Hard Drives...

Okay, this one has me stumped! I have a customers PC here. It's a custom built (but older) Intel Core 2 Quad with NForce 750 SLi chipset. He has 3 Hard Drives in total. The 750GB Hitachi that the OS (Windows 7 64bit) is running off. There's a 2nd 3TB Seatage inside the system and a 3rd...

    Any notebook LCD LVDS experts?

Yeah, you might be right. It looks like there's two different LVDS cables for this notebook. This one even says "HD" on the cable and maybe the other one says "Full HD" or something like that. I'm going to order a new cable and return this LCD panel for the lower resolution one and hope that...

    Any notebook LCD LVDS experts?

Yeah, I would have just thought the new screen was bad until I put the old one back in and now it only gives a white image. I think the cable got fried I'm just not sure if it's because of the new screen (either being wrong, or bad) or if I somehow damaged it while changing screens. I've just...

    Any notebook LCD LVDS experts?

So I have a Dell Vostro 3570 15.6" with a cracked screen. The screen was cracked but I could still see the image behind the crack. It had a 1366x769 resolution screen in it that broke. I ordered a 1920x1080 screen thinking the resolution didn't matter since it had the same 40-pin connector...

New Smaller And Lighter PlayStation 3 To Hit The Worldwide Market

PS4's wont be out until 2014 IIRC and remember the slim PS2's came out two years before the PS3. The slim PSone actually came out around the same time the PS2 came out IIRC. It was just there as a cheap alternative. Even if the PS4 comes out next year there's nothing wrong with releasing a...

New Smaller And Lighter PlayStation 3 To Hit The Worldwide Market

I think it looks ugly compared to the slim model we have now. But whatever, if it's cheaper that's all that matters. It's good for late adopters who haven't got a PS3 yet. Still though I gotta say... no N? I know its been mentioned. But I just realized the other day that the current slim...

RAM went bad after power outage?

I don't think it's the sudden lack of power but rather the spike that comes with it. Spikes or power surges are more common when the power goes out... or more likely when the power comes back on. That's why some people always say to unplug things during a power outage. It's so that when the...

Help needed - cheapest GFX card for good performance @ 1024x768? :)

Oh right 4870 needs two 6-pin PCI-e power connectors. Bit of a power hog. HD4670? I remember when it came out it was the fastest benchmarked GPU that didn't require any external power. They were the best bus powered card at the time IIRC.

Help needed - cheapest GFX card for good performance @ 1024x768? :)

3870's are pretty slow compared to a 4870 with GDDR5! I bet you can find a 4870 dirt cheap and they're just as fast as a 5770/6770 when it comes to raw power (they don't have as many newer features though)

[Rant] Mismatch between advertised and formatted capacity

The worst part is his tech level is 5/5? That's what pisses me off on there more than anything. I know more than half these clowns and I put a modest 4/5 as of course, not even I know everything! These morons who rate something low because they don't understand it, rant that's it's defective...

    Thinking of... Zalman Z9 Plus.

I've been building systems with the Z9 plus for the past year and I've been saying for the past year that it is one of the best budget gaming cases. We sell it here in Canada for $59.99 retail and that's for a case with temp sensor/LED display, fan controller, 4x 120mm cooling fans, 4x USB 2.0...

    W7 x64 Pro and 32GB RAM

http://superuser.com/questions/402333/computer-slow-after-installing-32gb-ram 4th answer down someone said that fixed the issue for them.

    W7 x64 Pro and 32GB RAM

Fixed it. I read this elsewhere and thought it was strange but I gave it a try. This worked for someone else also running 32GB RAM on a similar Gigabyte Z68 mobo. Not the exact same model though so it maybe a problem with many Z68 boards? Anyway, like I said I'm running a PCI-e video card...

    W7 x64 Pro and 32GB RAM

Yeah I tried one stick at a time and it ran great each time. Like I said I tried different clocks, timings and voltages for RAM also. I didn't try any BIOS other than whatever was on the board when I got it, and the latest on there. But the problem has always been there with 2 different BIOS...

    W7 x64 Pro and 32GB RAM

Okay I've built a system here with a Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 rev 1.3 with the latest BIOS, Core i7 2700K, Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5, 128GB Crucial M4 SSD and 32GB of G.Skill DDR3 1600MHz RAM. Windows 7 x64 Professional is loaded on the SSD. Windows 7 boots up lightning fast with 16GB...

    Intel SRT WTF?

Okay I've built a few Intel Z68 systems so far with Intel SRT and NEVER had this much trouble! I know I've built a few with Gigabyte boards but I think I've even done this board before! This is driving me crazy! System is an Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 with a Core i7 2700K, HD7950, 8GB RAM and a...

    Trouble with 4 monitors

I think the Flex edition means you can run 3 monitors without a DP monitor or an active DP adapter. You can usually only run 2 non-DP monitors without an active DP adapter but you need a DP monitor or an active DP adapter for the 3rd monitor on a normal GPU. To run more non-DP monitors on a...

AMD-powered Sapphire Edge HD3 Nettop Said to Ship Next Month

Yep. You nailed it. I love Intel and SB and sure if I was building a full DT right now I'd be going Ci5 2500 for the price to performance. I have no reason to hate one or the other they both have great products for the job. But I'd take an E-450 based netbook (a 12.1" one) over an Atom based...

AMD-powered Sapphire Edge HD3 Nettop Said to Ship Next Month

Oh FFS You're missing the whole point. It's all about the size and low power draw. I don't need more power for a HTPC but something that small and compact would be nice. I don't want another desktop taking up room in my place, I already have one and it's obviously more powerful! Hell I've...

AMD-powered Sapphire Edge HD3 Nettop Said to Ship Next Month

Damn a nice little E-450 box like this or the Zotac would make a great HTPC! If you can buy the Zotac one cheap without an OS and throw XBMC/Ubuntu on it that would be great!

Specials @ New Egg (US) CM Hyper 212 $19.99, Corsair 60GB SSD 64.99

I got my Cooler Master 212+ for $29.99 CDN local from a shop and I have to say it's the best $30 cooler I've ever seen. I'm no extreme OC'r but the 4 cooper heatpipe cooler does the job. What I really like is the fact the included 120mm fan is a 4-pin PWM fan and they include a bracket to...

Das Keyboard Reveals Mac-friendly Mechanical Keyboard

I got my hands on a Das Keyboard the other day. It wasn't mine but I played with it for a minute to see how it felt. I can't remember the model but it was the one that has no letters on the keys. I have heard a lot of good things about these keyboards but I was disappointing to say the least...

    SATA and IDE HDD Conflict

Very strange. IDE drive or no IDE drive you wouldn't think it would affect the SATA drives. Unless there's something wrong with one of the drives. I can't think of anything other than make sure you have the latest BIOS. Although it worked before... still couldn't hurt to get that. Oh and...

ASUS Reveals Four New Eee PCs, Three are based on Cedar Trail

I think he was referring to the screen display. As in 10.1" and still only 1024x600. I have a netbook so I know it's a little cramped on screen real estate. But this brings up another question. Why do you even care to play HD video on it? The screen can't even display true 720p! Unless of...
