Microsoft Unveils Pricing for Cloud Streaming Windows 365 Service

Unless you are a small business and you don't have a Microsoft rep, you rarely pay the listed price. We pay about 30% of the actual license cost in our enterprise agreement. Those would still be expensive for what they are. I wonder what are the future of these Virtual Desktop solution when...

Intel Core i9-12900K Allegedly Beats AMD Ryzen 9 5950X at Cinebench R20

Intel Rebadges 10nm Enhanced SuperFin Node as "Intel 7," Invents Other Creative Node Names

True, but the power consumption is not only dependent on the node. I can also be dependent on the architecture and on the v-curve intel implement. That is back to the point i made. Only the real world performance (and power consumption) matter, not the number on the fabrication node.

Facebook Pauses Sales of Oculus Quest 2 Over Skin Irritation

It also depend on how many user use it, i am the only one that use my headset. But if you have a family, and pass it to other people, it can certainly mess up skin biome.

Facebook Pauses Sales of Oculus Quest 2 Over Skin Irritation

I think the real issue is the foam was porous and that create a good environment for bacteria. Initially, I didn't had any skin irritation when doing long sessions (1h+). Then i started playing Thrill of the fight, (an intense boxing game). Well after 2-3 sessions where the foam was soaking...

Intel Rebadges 10nm Enhanced SuperFin Node as "Intel 7," Invents Other Creative Node Names

This is fun for speculation and all that but in the end, it do not really matter to us customers. What is important is the final performance of each product. This is only for people that might want to buy manufacturing process. I am not surprised that they are renaming their manufacturing node...

Intel Core i9-12900K Allegedly Beats AMD Ryzen 9 5950X at Cinebench R20

Well i still need to wait for actual game results to see how it perform but that is indeed very interesting. But the CB single thread score do not exactly reflect to gaming performance sadly. But that is indeed very interesting for content producer. If that is true, there are 2 scenario, and...

AMD Zen 4 Desktop Processors Likely Limited to 16 Cores, 170 W TDP

The main problem of Gustafson's Law is Amdahl Law still apply. And that also prove my point too, you talk about resolution and graphics. Like i said, things that can be easily parallelized are being run on accelerator like GPU. It's true that you can increase the difficulty of the work of...

Valve Announces the Steam Deck Game Console

1280x800... 8 CU RDNA 2 shouldn't have too much problem to run these game at good framerate. I am mostly concern with UI size as some game require a minimum of 1080p, do all pc game will work or they will require specific version of games to run on these? We will see, but with the spec, that...

AMD Zen 4 Desktop Processors Likely Limited to 16 Cores, 170 W TDP

Those 2 quote can't be compared. There is no law that limit how much data it's worth storing. But there is a rules about multicore/multithread scaling. Amdahl law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amdahl%27s_law The thing is a lot of the thing that can easily be parallelized can be done by GPU...

NVIDIA DLSS 2.0 Added to Red Dead Redemption 2

I had some time to test it but i read that to not get artefact, you will want to disable TAA Sharpening. I didn't and I had strange artefact around edge. I still need to try without it but that is a good to know. It's quite strange that turning on DLSS do not turn it on by default. Also...

AMD Zen 4 Desktop Processors Likely Limited to 16 Cores, 170 W TDP

I think the key here is the power envelope and the intended buyers of these CPU. AMD already offer up to 64 cores with Threadripper so we could say they limit consumers desktops to 16 cores, but that is more than enough for most people. A key selling point for desktop CPU right now is still...

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 "Chagall" Processors Arrive This August in Both sTRX4 and sWRX8 Variants

There is not as much increase in performance in the heavily multithreaded apps between Zen and Zen 3 so it's probably not worth increasing if you have already Zen 2 Threadripper. The good thing is is you have now from start the 8 channel sku.

Qualcomm Wants to Build an M1-Like Processor for PCs

The interesting thing about x86 emulation on arm is you end up doing in software what the front end of modern x86 CPU since the pentium pro do in hardware. So to do x86 to ARM you have to decode the Micro ops of the x86 instruction and convert them into arm instruction. The opposite is a bit...

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Arrives this August

They will sell them for as much as they can for as long as they can. AMD and Nvidia are in a position where they can't make enough GPU to fill the market. So they aren't afraid to be undercut and market flooded. IT still seems that Nvidia is shipping way more Ampere than AMD RDNA2 (and the...

Intel Regains CPU Market Share that it lost to AMD, Latest Steam Hardware Survey

AMD have manufacturing volume than Intel so as long as it can't compete on that aspect, it's best for them to target the higher margin market to make as much money as possible with the capacity they have. AMD is selling all the CPU they make. Once they catchup the market, they will release new...

Intel Regains CPU Market Share that it lost to AMD, Latest Steam Hardware Survey

It's quite sad that Steam data is so inaccurate, it could have been a good tool. I think what they should do is to do a Per game survey(for the most popular game). Indeed some people would freak out that Steam spy their hardware, but i wouldn't mind (as long as it's just that). So this way it...

PowerColor Website Lists Radeon RX 6600 XT and RX 6600

FSR have nothing to do with Rasterization or Ray Tracing. It work on a flat 2D image after the image have been rendered. Yes it does indeed have a lot of overhead. But it allow effect that are just too hard to cheat effectively with rasterization effects. By example Reflection, right now it's...

Graphics Card Prices in Germany Fall to the Lowest Point Since February

Yeah but most of these bans where targeting Bitcoin and bitcoin is being farm with ASICs, not GPU. And the Crypto crashed way before china started cracking it. Graphics Card Prices in Germany Fall to the Lowest Point Since February

the truth is as long as 1k+ graphic card sell like hot cake, they will make 1K+ graphics cards They can't even make enough to satisfy the demand. That is the reason why there is no more lower-mid graphic card... the new 1060 is a 600$+ graphic card in the 3060
