Some e-cigarettes can increase risk of cancer by 5-15 times

why does anyone drink alcohol? why eat fatty foods? lots of sugar? It's the rare individual who is not self-destructive in some way with what they put into their body. Luckily for myself I never really got into smoking cigarettes. don't get me wrong I did for a time, and have bought them plenty...

Will people adapt to using 42" Computer monitors from 2 feet ?

I use multiple sizes and have changed over the years, mostly as technology evolved. I think it also really depends on what you do with it. Heavy reading vs coding vs graphics vs games, etc. I code and do some graphics work. play games, watch movies. My minimum size to do any real work is 23"...

    The Linux screenshots thread

It's all about what is aesthetically pleasing to you. for me smooth corners, shadows, transparency, and cleaner text are a must. if for no other reason - I pay for the hardware and it can handle it, I like it - why not?

yeah i knew i remembered buying those psus BECAUSE they were consistently rated great. thanks for the clarification guys. not to discourage you from that, as I would if I could too ;) But I also do web development, including responsive site design - are you using virtual machines? are you...

Which type of video card for my MOBO?

that makes sense though, I got mine like 2009, and it was in stock on newegg so it was likely an even older model. ty :)

Which type of video card for my MOBO?

not to derail, but huh? I had always thought of pc p&c as a decent brand. I have two of their psu's in my two rigs for more than 3 years now, running almost 24x7. gaming, work, vms, etc. no issues. obviously that's anecdotal and not objective but again I thought they were a good brand?

    Pinnacle Game Profiler Holiday Sale

One piece of software I really love but could never recommend because of the price tag, is on sale for only $4.99. I don't see how long the sale will last. This software lets you use your gamepad (360, etc) with games that do not have native gamepad support on pc. you can also redefine and...

    $25 mechanical keyboard

now that everyone has shared their thoughts, back to reality... ;) just kidding. still though, while price is not and should never be "the" metric - on the other hand it is, "a" metric, for consumers- with the caveat that it is not always accurate. still, i would say 70%+ of the time price will...

    $25 mechanical keyboard

point taken but i'm sure it's past experience mingled with that mindset. i just like my peripherals, usb stick etc in a port directly. microphone, chargers, etc can go on the hub.

    $25 mechanical keyboard

I already said it was a few years ago, so no - not maybe 10. it was a question but only because i was hazy on the details. n key rollover which is the ability for a keyboard to detect multiple keypresses when said keypresses are released at the same time is an issue with usb keyboards still to...

    $25 mechanical keyboard

maybe the technology is better now but just a few years ago there were problems with the number of keys you could press at a time on usb vs ps/2, weren't there? I noticed on my $80~ logitech numerous times where it dropped out after pressing 4-5 keys at the same time in certain games - i...

    $25 mechanical keyboard

i do not know any details, based on price and limited info i would say no go. I found a decent mechnical for $70 last year, an "ione" brand - still going strong. I wouldn't go less than $50 for a mechanical though, and that's a steal imo.

    Controller issues!

i personally prefer the ps3 controller as well, but: 1) i have a spare wireless 360 controller, and bought the dongle long ago 2) i hated having to resync my controller to my ps3. i lost use of a controller for months (ds3tool) before finally getting it to reset on a linux box! if i had a spare...

    Controller issues!

there are a few pieces of software that let you configure third party pads / emulate a 360 pad. you could buy pinnacle for example, but i would just buy a 360 controller. check out x360ce
