Sony PlayStation 5 Confirmed: "It's Necessary To Have A Next-Generation Hardware"

Breaking news! also confirmed: the sky is blue, water is wet, and the sun rises over the east every morning! In all seriousness, I would really love to see Sony or MS tackle the portable console market like Nintendo did with the Switch, that's my favorite console by far this gen, and I...

Titan V is Supported under RTX in new Driver

Same thing I heard when hardware T&L cards were released, and programmable shader cards were released.... This is a first generation release of new rendering technology, of course it's gonna take a long time to have an industry wide adoption, but if you want the next step in realism for games...

Assassin's Creed Odyssey PC System Requirements Revealed Alongside Previews Galore

3D sound positioning is alive and well, I have perfect 3D positioning when playing on my PC in the living room, just like I do when I play with my other system with discrete sound cards connected to surround systems via toslink or regular 3.5mm jacks, the only difference is one set of speakers...

Assassin's Creed Odyssey PC System Requirements Revealed Alongside Previews Galore

Since all high end sound encoding has gone the HDMI route, PC speakers manufacturers are still way behind the curve, most current onboard or discrete sound cards only support analog out, or toslink out, giving you Dolby digital encoding at best, that's two generations old, compared to what's...

Intel's Chris Hook Confirms Commitment to Support VESA Adaptive Sync on Intel GPUs

When you see the same version of adaptive sync monitors using a g-sync module selling for $300-400 more than their freesync counterparts, you realize something is very wrong with nvidia's approach. I must admit I plunged into the g-sync bandwagon a few years ago, but back then there was no...

NVIDIA Releases First Internal Performance Benchmarks for RTX 2080 Graphics Card

Sarcasm aside, did you read my whole post? The hardware was available for pre-order on the 20th, like I said, I don't remember the last time Nvidia hardware was available for pre-order before reviews went up.

NVIDIA Releases First Internal Performance Benchmarks for RTX 2080 Graphics Card

Why are actual reviews of the cards under NDA still? As excited as I am to see Ray tracing finally making it to consumer products, the fact that Nvidia made the cards available for pre-order before any reviews by respected 3rd party websites have gone up doesn't bode well. I know pre-orders...

Antitrust: European Commission Fines Google for Record €4.34 billion for Illegal Practices

Wow, this is in my opinion overreach by the EU, 5 billion dollars? Google created Android to compete against Apple's walled garden approach with iOS. Most OEMs skin Android ad nauseum and even default to their own internet browsers as opposed to Google chrome, which I immediately install on...

NVIDIA "GT104" Based GeForce GTX 1180 Surfaces on Vietnamese Stores

Yes, can't deny that, we saw an amazing period of performance growth, just sucks us, regular mortals without access to a $3,000 Titan V haven't been able to experience what a quantum leap in architecture brings to gaming. We are way overdue for an update to what's currently available in the...

NVIDIA "GT104" Based GeForce GTX 1180 Surfaces on Vietnamese Stores

That 3dfx loading screen before every game started, man those were the days! Uncontested 3D acceleration domination! No other card came close to a Voodoo! I had the 6MB Canopus version of the Voodoo, man I loved that card, a big upgrade from my S3 3D "decelarator" hahaha I tip my hat to you...

NVIDIA "GT104" Based GeForce GTX 1180 Surfaces on Vietnamese Stores

Got it, his post sent me on a trip down memory lane, triggered memories of my old GTX 480s and their big ass heatpipes protruding out of the heatsink shroud, they were like the Harley Davidson of video cards LMAO I remember upgrading to the 580 a year after, and what a difference that was...

NVIDIA "GT104" Based GeForce GTX 1180 Surfaces on Vietnamese Stores

The 580 was not a rebrand of the 480, it had more cuda cores (512 vs 480) and a higher clock, it also ran much quieter and at lower temps than the 480. Also, as far as I remember there was no GTX 390, while the 3xx series where a rebrand of the 2xx series, there was never a flagship release...

    Your PC ATM

Good catch! It’s indeed an EK 360mm radiator leftover from my old water loop hahaha, the fans still work and extract hot air from the case, never got around removing the thing  Thanks HammerON! It’s nice to see you hanging around here! :lovetpu:

Hype Trains and You: A PSA

Thank you very much for the editorial, I couldn't agree more, I believe as a society we need to rely more on facts than hype or unproven expectations. Journalists also have a responsibility to try to avoid fanning the flames, as their influence is paramount to steering public opinion when it...

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

Adding HDMI 2.0 to GCN? I think you might be confused, GCN is the 3D geometry and rasterizer architecture used in the actual rendering engine of the GPU, and as such, it doesn't handle the display interface the video card will utilize to connect to a particular monitor or TV, this is a separate...

NVIDIA GP100 Silicon Moves to Testing Phase

Tripping speed-traps already? Sounds like this is gonna be one fast processor!! ba bum tss!!:D Seriously though, goodbye 28nm, you shall not be missed, about time we moved to a smaller process :rockout:

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

You're right, I stand corrected, in order to display chroma at 444 the bit rate is downsampled to 8bit. And I agree it sucks most TVs don't support display port out of the box, it clearly is the best alternative for video interfaces :(

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

Thanks for mentioning that, I had to double check, as honestly I wasn't aware of that limitation on my TV :( I have a Sony XBR55X850C, it does, apparently support 444 mode at 4K 60Hz after the latest firmware update according to this site...

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

It's not laziness or not being able to afford it, a lot of people like me bought 4K TV sets this past couple of years when prices became more palatable (in my case a 2015 Sony Bravia 4K model) and to think that people would go out of their way and buy a new TV just because this card cannot...

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

Architectural changes? You do know how active display port to HDMI converters work, right? Those little dongles contain a tiny chip that functions by processing the DP video signal to convert it to an HDMI video signal, a very small piece of silicon no bigger than a few squared millimeters in...

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

Yeah, that's always an option, but that doesn't save the card from being criticized for not including this feature out of the box, it would've cost AMD literally a few cents to add this feature to this "premium card" considering it costs exactly the same as a full AIO water cooled Fury X. And...

    AMD Radeon R9 Nano CrossFire

I think he might be referring to limiting the HDMI output at 4K to 30Hz when using this card in an HTPC build connected to a 4K TV; very few TVs have DP, so that there limits the potential to build a killer mini-ITX rig powered by this card to place in a living room and play games at a decent...
