Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

Checked this by chance, saw the request for pictures. Too lazy to unplug it all out to show the exact casing/inner setup, etc, but here's a picture of the final setup. :)

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

I've had no success doing anything with it, couldnt even get the mobo to recognize dvd drive, so I just took my htpc hdd, inserted it into my main pc, created bootable windows setup on hdd itself and returned drive into htpc. Everything worked our great, cheers guys ! Thread over !

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

Hitting F8 doesn't seem to trigger anything. Storage mode was set to IDE, with IDE combine enabled. I've set it to AHCI, IDE combine disabled, still the same issue.

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

Already bought it, it works - kind of, anyway ! I planned on installing Windows via USB installation, but so far I'm facing this problem. HDD and USB are recognized in BIOS, but regardless of boot order, or whether USB is connected or disconnected, I get this same message over and over again ...

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

Wow. How could I have missed that :O Cheers ! So basically, I'll just set up in BIOS that I want APU running with 3 cores, and that's the end of it ?

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

None of the motherboards for AMD in the price range I'm looking at has HDMI output built in on the motherboard, besides, buying a A6/+ CPU makes me spend more money than initially planned - seems to me, better option would be going with a slightly better GFX card, no ? Cards I've used in the...

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

S'cuse me, APU ? I'm generally tech literate but I have no idea what that means :O Also, could you please link me the components I should seek for. Ty in advance ! |edit| Been looking at AM3 motherboards, none of them seem to be sporting a HDMI output in price range I'm willing to...

Building a HTPC, already got component list, need advice !

Hiya ! I've started with my long overdue plan of refreshing my apartment ( wall stickers, furniture rearrangement, new couch ), and with my new plan, my main PC remains on the same position while the TV is moved away approximately 6 meters ( sorry US people, I don't work with ft :D ), which...

    Some videos stop showing up

Here's the deal - I've got a pretty huge archive of various gaming related videos, some of which are no longer available to download from anywhere, and this is a issue that's been bothering me for quite some time. I have a Samsung Green 1TB drive, that's completely free of any faults, so disk...

Windows 7 virtual wifi authentication mode

Hi, thanks for replying. No, that's not what I meant. Windows 7 has a built-in ability to create a virtual wifi connection, provided that the PC is equipped with a wifi adapter - basically, the PC acts like a router for all the other devices. You access that particular ability via cmd...

Windows 7 virtual wifi authentication mode

Hello. Just a quick question to whoever is using windows 7 virtual wifi capability - when you type in "netsh wlan show hostednetwork", cmd window displays a list of settings for your hosted virtual wifi. I was wondering, is there a way to change authentication method from WPA2-Personal to...

Wondering if this RAM will work on this mobo.

I'm looking to upgrade my RAM ( need more multitasking power at the moment ), and I decided that I'll buy 1600 MHZ modules EVEN THOUGH I have a mobo that only supports 1333 MHZ, due to the fact that I'm planning on a motherboard+CPU upgrade a bit later this winter/early spring. Anyway, I'm...

Point of View GeForce GTX460 problem

Derpa derp, installed CX500, BIOS reports 11.88V on the 12V rail, CPUID HW Monitor reports 8.18V, however, ran Furmark for 10 straight minutes without a shutdown, whereas on my old PSU, it'd shutdown around 1 minute mark :) Guess my problem is solved, thanks guys !

Point of View GeForce GTX460 problem

Oh, just btw - ran latest Furmark 2 secs ago, CPUID Hardware monitor reported that 12V rail had maximum 8.27V output, just 2 secs before PC shut itself down, so I guess it's really the PSU. Anyway, off to shop.

Point of View GeForce GTX460 problem

Doublepost, pardon me, the edit button doesn't work - I assume your GTX465 requires double PCI-E power pins ( as I've been googling the specs of the card ), that's where my question comes from. Anyway I'm pretty much buying the CX500 ( unless CX430 would work with only one pin ), and I want...

Point of View GeForce GTX460 problem

CX430 doesn't have 2x PCI-E 6pins as far as I saw, or am I missing something ? If it had I'd go for that and wouldn't of even looked at CX500, as my CPU and rest of my PC aren't using up that much power imo.

I've no problems going to PC shop and grabbing a new PSU, heck, I'd love it if that was the problem here, but are you certain that my GTX460 is not faulty ? ( extra concern from http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=155737 )
