560 TI 2GB vs 7850.. what specs won't tell you.

Something as ambiguous as this would probably be more of an issue of driver development and optimization of a game for a certain architecture. Personally, I don't experience any stuttering with the nvidia 330m with moderate settings or a single 5850 in D3 maxed out. Silly comparison IMO.

    Has Intel failed?

Sig'd. Although I will say my PSP can play it at 1000 times the frame rate.

The Heatsink with NO FAN...The Sandia Cooler

The Heatsink with NO FAN...The Sandia Cooler

I am well aware that the velocity of fluid impacts the collection of particulates. I am calling bullshit on claims that this device can pull air in at that speed. You are making assumptions about what I said, perhaps I wasn't clear myself. To be specific, I don't believe you can force air...

The Heatsink with NO FAN...The Sandia Cooler

Couple of inconsistencies I see from a practical point of view here: 1)Dust will collect on inside of the impeller. I don't care what they claim. Until they put this in a room with 3 cats for a week I don't believe a word. 2)It will take far less dust to block the inside of the impeller than...

    Sound Card vs. onboard

Thanks alot for that! Do you know of any software that can check latency? This is what i have found so far: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

    Sound Card vs. onboard

You seem to have experience with this. What is your process for testing these matters? How can I bench the noise and latency of an audio card?

Is a completely passive POWERFULL system possible now?

Its possible. Just dip everything in mineral oil hahaha. I am sure everyone has already seen those systems

    Sound Card vs. onboard

From my research, its probably just the difference between the drivers. But if you can't use good drivers with the onboard audio, then the card is better anyways. I have only looked into latency. Soundblaster has had their drivers specialized for DX for lower latency. Its hard to...

Latency is also another factor to consider.

How long till 1GB of vram is not enough?

Is dx10 and 11 supposed to be more efficient? I thought no current processor actually fully supports dx11? I dont know, metro is set to dx11 and I do run crysis w/ dx9.

How long till 1GB of vram is not enough?

AT completely max settings(AA included at 16x), Metro 2033 is by far less taxing on my crossfire 5850 setup than Crysis Warhead at 1080p at 4x AA. Beautiful game, none the less. It seems they efficiently programmed it.

Microsoft Surface Crashes During Official Presentation

Personally, I am impressed they even got an os like win 8 to run on an ARM processor. I could see why that would have alot of bugs. MS doesnt have the same experience in this arena as Apple.

    Sound Card vs. onboard

Reference wont necessarily sound "Better" but it will be a more fathful representation. Its had to discern at first until your ears are familiar with how things should sound so its a bit of a catch 22.

Aware me on the new graphics cards and why it may be worth it to purchase one.

Let me start off by mentioning that I don't game in anything more than 1080p. I have a nice 50" I game on in my living room so I kinda treat my gaming pc as the HTPC as well. Its the setup I have listed under my avatar. So far, I seem to be able to maintain atleast 45 fps in Metro 2033 or...

    How do soundcards work?

Seemingly simple question but I really am unfamiliar with what they actually do. I know they have A/D decoders and preamps, but what else do they do? Do they offload the cpu from any processing? I have a home studio that I record local musicians in. I have noticed that my M-Audio 1010lt...

Need some help overclocking Phenom II 1055T

Make sure you seal that hole and that your case is relatively air tight. I doesn't have to be perfect,, but you want to force the air in then out a specific path making sure appropriate components are cooled. If you find you have nothing to seal that holw with effectively, then run all your...

Need a network storage solution for under 500 that I can access remotely

Well I setup my computer with apache and built a simple page with my files in the directory. Now I have concerns over security. I have setup the page with authentication. Beyond that, I don't know what to do. Would a VPN be more secure? Also, I am not the only one that needs access to...

Vacuum trains: a high-speed pipe dream?

"Puns in headlines: Not really funny?" Internet journalism makes me lol sometimes but not for the right reasons. At 200mph you are toast. That point is irrelevant in my opinion.

Need some help overclocking Phenom II 1055T

As a point of full disclosure, most of my knowledge of oc'ing comes from lurking this forum and others, so I am not an expert. However, flow is something I know about. Having flow perpindicular to another stream of flow is about the best way to disrupt both of them. I do not see any point...

I'd agree. I think you have case flow issues possibly as my setup seems to be par for the course with the 1055t.

Need some help overclocking Phenom II 1055T

Mine is set at 270 fsb with a multiplier of 14. So thats about 3.8ghz and it never goes above 55 celsius at 1.445v for the cpu I believe. This is on air, I don't know if this helps or not. I don't use prime95 though as every computer I have tested with it overheats. I am sure its just...
