    Recovering "unallocated" data

Found a nice little guide for Testdisk: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step I've now gone through the process of re-writing the partition table on one of my disks and it seems to have worked perfectly. All the files are here and I haven't noticed any corruption. I'm still gonna...

    Recovering "unallocated" data

Tried to, didn't work :( All copies fail. I'm considering just trying to restore one of the disks through testdisk since the same data should be on both of them.

    Recovering "unallocated" data

Using Testdisk I can navigate through my old partitions and the data. I could go through and back up the important files, but I'd prefer just to restore the entire thing if that's possible. Problem is just that I'm completely new to Testdisk and have little idea of how this program works.

    Recovering "unallocated" data

Well, creating a new array was instant and didn't involve any disk activity, so I assume it only created a the basic things required for it to work and that it didn't actually overwrite or delete any of the data on the disk. Update: I've ventured into Testdisk and it looks like my partitions...

    Recovering "unallocated" data

Well, I did update my BIOS a while back, which I've read is a common reason disks fall out of arrays, but mine didn't, so I assumed it was fine. Using DD seems time-consuming. It seems like there might be programs that could do this for me. I found EaseUS Partition Master and Partition Wizard...

    Recovering "unallocated" data

I had a RAID 1 set up and installed a few new components in the system. Then the BIOS changed SATA mode to AHCI for some f*****g reason, and my disks fell out of the array. So I tried simply setting it back to RAID and re-creating the array, but now they just show up as unallocated data in the...

WTF is wrong with hardware these days?

Do note that this isn't backlight bleeding, the problem OP has is called IPS glow. Backlight bleed looks more like this: http://i.imgur.com/2CTooWT.jpg And here's a more modest example: http://i.imgur.com/gJO7WdZ.jpg And when the IPS glow is this bad you should clearly RMA/replaceme it.

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

Yeah, kinda douchy :( Also, after a few questions in the Nvidia Redemption thread on Tek Syndicate I'm really starting to doubt the truthfulness of his statements, at least the one about the Asus PCIe controllers. I've asked several times for links now. The first time I got a link to a test...

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

I haven't found any more info, no. This was a statement by the guy that made the Nvidia Redemption thread. I'm skeptical of the truthfulness of the statement as such a thing would likely have been noticed by enthusiasts by now. So essentially, it could happen, but probably won't, at least not...

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

Okay, thanks. Only two more questions then and I'm done with this thread: Is there a reason why IOMMU isn't or won't be used in 3D rendering applications outside of virtual machines? And does the statement that 'Asus Z87 PCIe controller has problems with reduced framerates/performance' hold any...

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

I know, but is there a reason why this isn't or won't be used in 3D rendering applications outside of virtual machines? How so? And I'd also like to second Tigger's question: is there a reason for this lack of support?

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

So IOMMU has nothing to do with Mantle? Do you know this? If so, how? I'm very much a noob with lower level commands and protocols, so further explanation would be appreciated.

Nvidia "Redemption" and potential hardware requirements

I have learned a few things since my last thread. 1. Swearing is frowned upon here. 2. People like going off topic. 3. Reading is hard. I hope to remedy the problems these things caused with this thread. I would also like to publicly apologize to Frick, the guy I was unnecessarily rude to when...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

I might switch to Linux later on if Valve makes enough games compatible with Linux through their SteamOS. So yes, Linux is actually very relevant. Why would I link it otherwise? I am worried about this API because this could potentially make a very large difference in gaming performance and...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Sigh.. Please don't respond if you don't have a clue.. This is nothing like CUDA, this is an API like DirectX that Nvidia is making for Linux as a response to AMD's Mantle API. It is that very same Mantle API that will make BF4 much better with multithreading, by the way.

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Why would that help? What does price drops and "new" GPUs have to do with the Redemption API? Did you read that link? :wtf:

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Nope, not a question. I told people that they could recommend something if they were knowledgeable about it. And since this keeps coming back I guess I need to clarify. The 4770 is not an option. Stop mentioning it. It stands between the locked and unlocked versions of the 4670. Why? Read at...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

No, I was not vague at all. People misread my posts and comment and then more people started commenting on the same thing because they saw the other peoples' comments. You're right in that I was a bit brash towards that first comment though. I just usually respond like that when people are...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Sigh... And now there's another one.. Please read the thread before posting. Especially the OP, because you're not even trying to answer my questions..

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

I think the both of you need to have a long read of the OP. Read it several times even, because you're clearly reading it wrong somehow. Also read the link to the whole Nvidia Redemption thing I posted. Then tell me: did I ask whether to buy the 4670 or 4770? No, I don't, and you'd know that...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

I know reading can be hard, but maybe you just don't belong in forums if that's something you have a problem with. About 5 years is probably a good estimation. And nah. Still don't think it's worth it. Well, no. '10% to the final bill' is not good comparison. I need to consider the price of...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Thank you for your highly informative addition to this thread. You may see yourself out now. This is what happens when people ignore my questions. I did not ask whether to buy the 4670 or 4770.

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

Thank you. Finally there is reason. :respect: Well, one would have to define the parameters more strictly to even come close to calling such a thing fact. And even then 'crazy' is a highly relative term. Besides, that wasn't the part I was calling fact :P Well, yes. Obviously. But even with...

    Upgrading platform, now or later?

That's not always true. Things usually have worse price/performance at the top tier of products. And it can vary greatly between the bottom and the middle. I find that generally you're getting the best price/performance if you're buying around the middle tier. Those are usually the products...
