[WTB] Psu For Gtx285's In Sli.

The GTX 285's will use about 18 to 20 amps each (a bit more than the 14 to 15 amps or so for a GTX 280), a good motherboard 8 amps and a well OC'd CPU, 9 amps. Add some fans, drives, etc, and you could hit about 60 or so amps for 720 Watts on 12V draw assuming you could peg your CPU and video...

    power supply for a i7 920

I just figure out how much power each item will require. 12V CPU - i920 - about 6 amps GTX 285 - about 12 amps peak each motherboard - about 6 amps Fans - about .25 to .40 each. So,2 to 3 amps pump - 1 amp DVD - 1 amp each HDD - 1 amp each So, about 50 amps of 12 V or 600 Watts. Add...

    Alcpone's Official 3dMark Vantage Compilation

I think you will hit your 40 K mark once you get the GPUs maxed out. Nice scores :) You know, I have not even run Vantage with any serious OC since I put in the GTX 280 cards. Probably should try that out this weekend. 31K with the GTX 260 cards should be about 35K with the 280s. But, that's...

    PSU Calculator from MSI (New)?

1217 Watts is what I got on the calculator which is about right. Now, assuming that they are trying to keep you at 50% for normal load ratings, it makes sense. I measured my system at the wall and it draws about 800 Watts or actual internal use of about 650 Watts or so. You could get away with a...

    Alcpone's Official 3dMark Vantage Compilation

I have 3 GTX 280's on the way. Not sure if I will get them before vacation to Florida, however. Have to give Fit some pressure so I hope they arrive early enough next week. :)

Since 06 does not stress modern cards too hard, clocks are king. Since Vantage is DX10, bandwidth on the video card becomes more important. ATI clocks much higher but has less bandwidth than the NVIDIA cards so the results get predictable :)

What PSU are you using? Changing mine for a larger unit net me about 1000 points.

The GTX 280 also has one other advantage, frame buffer, especially at high resolutions (30 inch monitor). I am going to give Tri SLI with the GTX 280 a whirl. I did the step up to the GTX 280 cards. Might as well try. As for the GTX 260 192 versus 216, the latter can only be BIOS modded to...

Since it's you :) Nice with the Rampage Extreme II and Tri-SLI. Looks like you are prepping for a big move. Giorgios may have some competition.

Any more updates, fit? I was curious how the i7 was doing once you got comfortable with the OC parameters.

BFG Offers Some AGP Owners Free Upgrade to PCI Express Graphics Card

Well, they will have their AGP stocks shored up again with people accepting their generous offer. Warranty replacements of EOL items are always used.

BFG Offers Some AGP Owners Free Upgrade to PCI Express Graphics Card

Lets' say you are BFG with a lifetime warranty. Now, let's look at how many registered users you have with BFG AGP cards still active. How do we reduce the potential liability of support, simplify our suport model and look like heroes? This sounds like a good execution to me.

Those were in XP. And, yes, the CPU score is affected greatly by Vista. Those same clocks in Vista versus XP net me about 1500 or so on the CPU score.

Yes, it is normally by people with the same hardware. If you find yourself with a unique setup, then the peer review will not work since no one is familiar with the normal result. But, for any results that generate points, they are all over you. DDR3 made a difference for me. But, of course...

And, that CPU score is on Vista. I know when I did my testing, Vista killed my CPU scores. At 1800 FSB at 4.75 GHz, I get about 7800 for the CPU score in XP and 6300 in Vista. That is a huge margin. Best I could do for score was about 25,000 in Vista versus 26,500 in XP. Of course, the XP...

    Alcpone's Official 3dMark Vantage Compilation

The reality is that no regular users will buy the i7 anyway. The motherboards are expensive and the Core 2 Duo will be the value item for some time to come. Maybe next Spring it will pick up as a mainstream item. The cheapest chip (the 920) will likely be $400 for some time until Intel makes a...

    Alcpone's Official 3dMark Vantage Compilation

These days, as Fit can attest, it is more about luck than skill (OK, not completely no skill). I have spent time on the bargain end clocking up my Q6600s to 3.7, 3.8 and 4.2 GHz and a Q6700 to 3.9 (I thought the multi would help - it did not). I have also played with the Opterons back when they...

Extreme chips are so much more flexible. I went the regular chip route and the ceiling was too low with (ie, the Q6600 and Q6700) and they are speed binned to a certain degree. Worth the money, IMHO.

You know, you are right. Tatty One had the GTX 260 score. I mixed you guys up  -15C. I do it for a run then go to normal mode with 1.38V and -28C.
