The Filthy, Rotten, Nasty, Helpdesk-Nightmare picture clubhouse

Well, you guys wait 'till Monday. I've got a new batch of PSUs for repair (about 150 of them). Pretty sure there will be some exciting stuff inside =)

NVIDIA Titan V Achieves 82 MH/s in Ethereum Mining

Lol... "Impressive result" still with the lowest ROI. It'll take you over 1 year to get your money back, assuming you can get one at MSRP, and you don't count an investment into additional cooling for this already power-hungry beast.

Mystery AMD APU with 1,792 SP Shows Up on SANDRA Database

I've just noticed this newspost on overclockers.ua and they speculate that this is a new compute accelerator for AI/Deep learning. What gave it up, is a massive memory bandwidth (read "HBM2"). So, either it's a "beefed-up" version of Core+Vega, but for compute or workstations (the one announced...

Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional2 Lands in Europe for £259.99 / €289.99

Plum keyboards usually get good feedback, considering the price. The only complaints are about housing, cause they reuse same chassis for ALL variants of the same board. Knock-off switches are usually good, cause there really is nothing special about Topre. Just a rubber dome with a spring...

Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional2 Lands in Europe for £259.99 / €289.99

Here's one of the famous ones. Still expensive for my wallet, but much better. Same Topre 45g switches. https://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=leopold,compact&pid=fc660c Then there are also various Topre-like keyboards w/ decent electrocapacitive switches, like Plum/NIZ, which comes in...

Happy Hacking Keyboard Professional2 Lands in Europe for £259.99 / €289.99

There are so many things that just don't make sense. It's a weird and a bit chopped up 60% ANSI layout, which for some reason Fujitsu calls Sun Type 3 in promo pics, but "modified ANSI" in spec. It's oriented towards programmers, but no sane programmer will ever use a KB with lack of certain...

Toshiba and WD Reach Global Settlement and Agree to Strengthen Collaboration

Wow, that was fast. I sure hope that with two big companies backing Fab6 WD/Sandisk can finally catch up with competition in terms of $$$/GB.

Quake Champions to Receive Largest Update to Date

As I said before, Early Access with paid content and microtransactions is a sure sign that the dev. team has less faith in the game than their customers. It's friggin' ID under Bethesda, man...

Quake Champions to Receive Largest Update to Date

I've heard that so many times, it almost makes me wanna puke. MMR and ranked matches were supposed to be in Nov patch. Game is still laggy as hell, still only bandaids for netcode, and to make matters worse, Saber is busy with another game (no time to fix their code in QC). The last "Largest...

I think I killed my MSI Z97 U3 PLUS Motherboard!!!

When did that happen? After almost 2 years of daily use I never had to zip my BIOS dumps for flashing. You are confusing something.

I think I killed my MSI Z97 U3 PLUS Motherboard!!!

BTW, guys at Embedded Computers have updated the manual in a new software version with MSI SPI pinout (though, an older 10-pin version). NVM, didn't see your prev. post... ... and I'm finally getting a Pro version in a few weeks! Don't sweat, I'll do a walkthrough if you need help w/ soldering...

AMD Issues Official Statement Regarding RX 560 Silent Downgrade

Jesus Christ, I think the GT730 thing is totally out of whack here.... I did read your post, but I think you are slightly misunderstanding my post. What I mean is that you can't simply take all GT730s with all variations and put them in a spec page: you'll need a book on "Evolution and...

AMD Issues Official Statement Regarding RX 560 Silent Downgrade

It's not that easy. Over the past few years there were so many variations of 730, that you could find a 1GB DDR5 Fermi or 1GB DDR3 Kepler, or a Fermi card with up to 4GB framebuffer in both DDR3&5 variants. Like this puppy: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/188957/188957

AMD Issues Official Statement Regarding RX 560 Silent Downgrade

Well, this situation is a bit different. Even though Camp Green had similar misnomenclature on GT730, it was a totally opposite situation. Instead of "downgrading", they were slowly replacing old Fermi chips with Kepler (which is more of a "silent upgrade"). At least that was their intention...

I formatted an HDD with my Bitcoin Wallet, anyway to recover it?

I can do the same, and no one knows exactly where I live (including myself on occasion)

NVIDIA Announces TITAN V "Volta" Graphics Card

Even with that price tag this card will sell like hot sh#tcakes. Remember, there are no Volta-based Quadro cards yet, and Tesla V100 is trending at around $8000 (as a part of a server bundle, a lot more by itself)....

    Kavari and amdgpu-pro?

Roll back to Gallium, or whatever was there by default. Just a few days ago I had to deal with similar issues + some QT apps w/ acceleration, after an AMD driver update on an older Llano machine. The webdev girl got so pissed at canonical & amd, that she just said "gimmethef$%^nwindowz!".

I formatted an HDD with my Bitcoin Wallet, anyway to recover it?

Did you do a full format, or a quick format? If it was quick format, then it's only rewriting the file system map, which means your data is still there, but you might need to look for wallet.dat amongst those recovered files manually (cause file names were erased during formatting process)...

sapphire 7970 ref board bios 1 and 2 bricked

@CAPSBOY , did you check if your cards appear in Device Manager, when you plug them into PC? If yes, then you can use ATI WinFlash to restore the stock BIOS. If not, then it can only be done via an external SPI flash programmer. BTW, shorting pins is only used to ensure that the WP pin is...

PowerColor Announces Next-Gen Gaming Station eGFX Enclosure

Devoted Alienware and Apple users =) They need to make these things cheaper before that. Just drop Thunderbolt 3 with all the bells and whistles (cause who needs a USB hub and Ethernet on an eGPU), and replace it with a hotplug PCIe 3.0 x4. No expensive controllers, no extra peripherals, just...

Select AMD Mobile Platforms to Include Qualcomm-Powered LTE Capabilities

But the purpose is different, though. With Win10 for Snapdragon it was a light and noiseless device with 10h of battery life, while this combo just gives you LTE on a normal laptop. Pretty sure it's just another marketing stunt to push for Giga-LTE, just because there is no real competition in...

Kingston SSDs Featuring Phison Controllers Power Over 18 Million PCs and Systems

Well, hopefully the newer lineup of NVME controllers from phison is better than their old SATA and USB controllers. Or at least can survive just a tad past the SSD warranty

Microsoft Launches Windows 10 for ARM, Always Connected PCs

There was a demo running a crappy World of Tanks Blitz and more interestingly, Halo Spartan Assault. So, at the very least it will support DX9/10/11, and of course OGL and Vulkan. So, coming back to your question: it will run Crysis.
