AMD Issues Official Statement Regarding RX 560 Silent Downgrade

Isnt as bad? This is the same as your post mentioning you need to look more than the packaging, as you need to look in SKU and serial number to look exactly what is your getting.

AMD Issues Official Statement Regarding RX 560 Silent Downgrade

The simplest method is to look at their naming e.g: Evo in ASUS card or for more shady company like Powercolor look in their SKU numbers, some site like NewEgg mentions the sp count. Talking about Powercolor, they made the later R9 270 TurboDuo with 1024sp instead of 1280sp. I'm very close of...

AMD Officially but Silently Downgrades Radeon RX 560 with an 896 SP Variant

You missing the point. That few frames is stand between semi playable to playable, and you know FireStrike is known to be tough on low end cards. On games you can see it will made a larger difference, you can check out reviews for that.

AMD Officially but Silently Downgrades Radeon RX 560 with an 896 SP Variant

There is no replacement for displacement, period. I say it quite a number of times. In FireStrike to get similar amount of performance as fully unlocked core requires over 100MHz core clock for the 128sp and 8 TMU deficit, and framerate is 10% difference in both game test. Refer to my post in...

AMD Officially but Silently Downgrades Radeon RX 560 with an 896 SP Variant

Yep, also X1800 got 3 version GTO comes with 12 pipes while XL and XT with 16 pipes. Some GTO can be unlocked to 16 pipes. Some 9500 comes with L shaped memory that can be unlocked to 8 pipes similar to 9700. Feels like deja vu all over. Is this their act trying to balance that some Ryzen 5...

AMD Officially but Silently Downgrades Radeon RX 560 with an 896 SP Variant

In China the 896sp variant uses RX 560D prefix for example Yeston RX560D, but not everywhere else. ASUS uses EVO on their 896sp variant, but some companies Powercolor there is no indication but to look at their SKU, like my card AXRX560-DHA is 896sp while DHV2-OC is 1024sp. Interestingly my...

AMD Officially but Silently Downgrades Radeon RX 560 with an 896 SP Variant

I bought Powercolor RX 560 few days ago, there is no mentioning of number of stream processor on their global site. There is 4 version with varying clockspeed, memory size and boost clock. Mine comes with 896sp with 1180MHz boost clock, but managed to flash to 1024sp vBIOS without problem...

    Coilwhine free gpu

If you really wanted to test your card for coil whine there is some games that will make your card whine like F.E.A.R main menu. If it doesnt whine there it wont whine anywhere.

    Your PC ATM

I bought RX 560 to test for Freesync. Unfortunately being Powercolor brand it have 896 stream processor, even though it doesn't mention anything on the box or on the website. The card SKU is AXRX 560 4GBD5-DHA But knowing some RX 460 being able to unlock to 1024sp I try Googling for the...

How many people still use sound cards?

I have a couple of soundcard, Xonar HDAV1.3 (not the slim one) and XFi Titanium HD but I'm not using it. What I use currently is an USB Digidesign MBox. Surprisingly it worked well on Win10 Fall Update, this thing is nearly 15 years old. I never use an onboard sound, always have a soundcard...

Vega 8 Mobile GPU Seemingly Ditches HBM2 Memory, Makes Use of System DDR4 Pool

Implementing HBM is not as easy as eDRAM. Even though its a single stack it still requires interposer and other circuitry involving with it. I dont believe it could be implemented on the same socket unlike Intel did on Broadwell (except that Intel did the 'new motherboard for new CPU' thing they...

Vega 8 Mobile GPU Seemingly Ditches HBM2 Memory, Makes Use of System DDR4 Pool

This is what I thinking is optimal for APU initially, but the complexity of interposer and HBM requires additional circuitry and power planes going to complicate matters especially on mobile because lets face it, it still going to require regular DDR memory to operate. What AMD should done is...

XFX Launches Custom RX Vega 56 and Vega 64 Double Edition Graphics Cards

No wonder it took so long with those cutout and fancy shroud. But the end result, its butt ugly. Can they made something simple, IMO I really dig AMD reference cooler on Vega, simple black shroud and fan, nothing fancy.

Latest Need for Speed Payback Update Accelerates Progression System

Yeah I remember those unique performance upgrades, there are 3 if my memory serves me well. Luckily there is a trainer nowadays where you can apply those upgrades to all your car

Latest Need for Speed Payback Update Accelerates Progression System

Same here, I just use MX-5 for the whole career. It's fun seeing small cars dominates bigger cars that have twice as many cylinders :D Back to topic, all this lootboxes and cards are for mobile gaming, they shouldn't creep to PC gaming. When I saw the gameplay in YouTube its really like the PC...

Do you guys lock your framerate ?

Depends on games, some games have framerate limit like Doom3 at 60fps, I just keep it that way. Other games I just kept Vsync disabled. I tried Fastsync but it crashes on older games like Max Payne. Framerate is north 200+fps even reaching 500fps in that game.

    Help in choosing budget GPU

Nah, there is no driver issue on both companies. 270X is faster but make sure your PSU have two 6-pin PCIe power connector, its an old card thus its more power hungry. What sort of games you going to play?

The rise of game themed graphics card

Putting a sticker of the game on it plus bundling the game with the card is fine. But putting some ridiculous LED, fancy shroud and put some 'theme' surrounding it with no extras whatsoever and charge extra for it is not.

EA Acquires Titanfall, Titanfall 2 Developer Respawn Entertainment for $455M

I rate Titanfall 2 singleplayer higher than CoD WW2 and Wolfenstein 2, as both are underwhelming to put it mildly. But since EA acquire them, then what you say is basically the fate of the game and the series

Anandtech--Raja Joining Intel to Develop dGPU

Hardware is one thing, software is the key of driving hardware to potential especially for graphics. From what I see of several chip companies try to make GPU, for example SiS with Xabre GPU, the hardware seems capable but the drivers aren't. Same goes with current Intel IGP. The GPU is good...

    Raja Koduri Leaves AMD

Polaris was good until Ethereum boom. Still, riding too long on GCN with mere 4 shader engine and same front and back end thats been stuck since Hawaii. I dont care what they say, there is no replacement for displacement. Period. They either need more or design new arch to be competitive.

    Upgrading options

I scratch both LCD since it's not available at the shop so I bought LG 24MP59G, which have the price drop nicely on my birthday (from RM648 to RM550), IPS display really made a huge difference both in color clarity and viewing angle. But it doesn't come with DisplayPort cable, I need to buy one...

    StarCraft 2 Becomes Free-to-Play Starting November 14

Starcraft II was a fun game, it still is especially now with no new RTS games being released. Singleplayer campaign was top notch if you not into multiplayer.

    Upgrading options

Thanks for replying, Im kinda torn between Philips 257E7QDSB which got good praise at wecravegamestoo thread, its a true 8-bit IPS panel and rather cheap, or Dell U2417H (which get good reviews at PCMonitors, its more expensive than the Philips and slightly smaller. Unfortunately, Xeon is...
