    Lets talk PC Audio

VERY SORRY FOR NOT FOLLOWING UP HERE BEFORE NOW. You're absolutely correct. I have a very large L-shaped desktop, so not only is my PC sitting up here, but two sets of bookshelf speakers B&W 601se, and a pair of vintage KEF C-40 dual 8" driver mini-towers ( I have them upside down, as the...

    Lets talk PC Audio

I have an SVS PB-2000 as the sub for this PC's sound system, and even in this tiny room, which causes havoc with LF sounds, it is phenomenal. Powerful and sublime. It makes already great sounding bookshelf speakers come alive, almost 3D now. I can't recommend SVS enough. Best customer service, too.

    DIABLO 3 ROS

I keep forgetting that I have to call them and get my account straightened out. Can't log in, and I never get the email to change the password. Plus, they don't tell you which question is the one you picked for verification. Kee-rist, it's been well over 5 years since I stopped playing WoW.

Intel Haswell Core i7-4790K vs. i7-4770K Comparison

I'd like to know that as well. I've had this i7-2600k @4.4ghz for as long as I've owned it, and I get the same or better frame rates in games as my friend's 4770k with the same GPUs. I'm still waiting to see a reason to upgrade from this chip.

ASUS GTX 780 Strix 6 GB

Okay, first off, when the 580's first came out, getting the 3gb WAS a bad decision, because it ran slower, and no games at the time came close to maxing the vRAM, but when I got my 580 about 3 years ago, I didn't read anyone still saying that, because it was already not true. . As to Watch Dogs...

ASUS GTX 780 Strix 6 GB

Are you planning on going with triple-monitor or 4k gaming? If not, there are plenty of 3gb 780's out there that will do just fine. My 780 with the ACX cooling is a monster for 1440p gaming. Every game butter-smooth and very low temps. Much quieter and cooler-running than the blower-type...

Help me decide: 770 4GB or 780 ti

EDIT: Almost forgot the most important reason I love this 780; the boost clock rings up the same boost as a SC card, going to 993mhz instead of the normal 902mhz. Also, these S. Korean monitors are great! for $312 delivered, and no dead pixels, I'm very happy.

Help me decide: 770 4GB or 780 ti

Plus, the prices have been bouncing around lately due to competition in key price points, but as someone who went from a 580 to 680 to my present 780, I can assure you that the prices I hoped would drop, never did. Only now is the 680ftw card going for less than the $560 I paid. And for a...

    Lets talk PC Audio

That's a very handy little gadget, BumbleBee. I bookmarked it in case I or someone I know find a need for it, like running two subs with one LFE input or output, depending on the source. Thanks.

    Lets talk PC Audio

Hah. I ordered the FiiO E9, and they sent me the E17 Alpen instead, not that I'm complaining, since I planned on going with both of them eventually. That was before I went nuts and chucked the idea of a headphone amp and went with the A/V receiver and bookshelf speakers instead. The sound from...

    Lets talk PC Audio

For 5.1, the world is your oyster. Just about any of the better known brands will work just fine. I forgot to mention this to qubit, but I did try the X-fi sound card and then on-board via the mobo, and I did not hear a difference. Now, I might have the cheaper X-fi card, but I did ask about it...

    Lets talk PC Audio

Ouch. Sounds like you shorted it out. Any time you mess with speaker plugs while powered up has the chance of doing that. If they're older than 2 years, you might not have recourse via warrantee, since most powered speakers' warrantees are 2years electronics, and usually 5 years for the speaker...

    Lets talk PC Audio

Thanks, qubit. I already have a X-fi card installed. The receiver also has a DAC built-in, as most do nowadays. I cannot stress enough just how great this sounds in near-field. I'm planning on upgrading the sub to a SVS or Hsu brand 10", perhaps running both, though I have an idea that the Polk...

    Lets talk PC Audio

Since the title to this thread was "Let's talk pc-audio", I'd like to remark on what I've found so far in my search for better sound via my PC. I'm a retiree and an avid PC gamer. For years I was quite happy with the very inexpensive Logitech 5.1 powered speaker system. Then, after upgrading to...

    Where is GPU-Z?

    Thanks. I'll pin it.

    Where is GPU-Z?

I use the GPU-Z program, and I like how it works. My problem is, when I accidentally turned it off, I can no longer find the program. It opens with Windows, so I know it's still there. Is there a way to re-enable the program after it's shutdown without re-starting Windows, like a Taskbar link or...

    CPU-Z is crashing my computer!

to jsfitz54, the problem seems to have been that I needed to shut down, rather than just restart the system for the "load at start up" to be disabled. That was one thing that made me crazy, in that 1) I'd never enabled that and B) even with it not checked it still loaded at startup. Anyway, it's...

    CPU-Z is crashing my computer!

Yes, I have it figgered out, now, with W1zzard's and other's help. Sorry, I forgot I'd posted this here. Thanks to evabuddy for their time and suggestions. As I stated at the other thread, I'm sure I'll be back with even more inane problems. hehe

I am getting very frustrated with gpu-z

I just want to say thank you to everyone here for their persistent help and suggestions. As an incompetent with way more computer than he knows what to do with, I couldn't get anything running without the help of people like yourselves. I know I'll be back with more inane problems, so just...

I am getting very frustrated with gpu-z

Thank you so much, W1zzard. It did not reoccur when I restarted, and it is not listed in the Registry. Perhaps the Shut Down was all that was needed.

I am getting very frustrated with gpu-z

In case I've mangled my intent; every time I'd only restart, gpu-z would start up. Only now, with a shut down did the program not start up at loading. I have the registry open now, and there is the Tech Power up main folder, and the GPU-Z sub, which indicates "LoadOnStartup". Is it the case...

I am getting very frustrated with gpu-z

Okay; something that occurred to me was that I hadn't shut down the computer, but instead merely restarted it, and gpu-z did NOT start up this time. Now, I'd still like to un-install it, until I can find out what else is wrong here. How do I do this? Sorry, not enough sleep. I mean, I hadn't...

Oh, I didn't see you, there. hehe. I'll try that, as it occurred to me, but I thought it silly.

I am getting very frustrated with gpu-z

Wizzard, that's why I think there's something wrong; I have to right-click on the upper pane of the gpu-z screen for the "load on startup" to be seen, and it's already unchecked. I also found the iteration of gpu-z in Scheduled Tasks and deleted it, with no result. I realize that there...

Yep, done that, too. Although I was glad to use it anyway, as it got rid of a lot of files I didn't need
