Just red this press announcement:
Anxious the see the first reviews....
Would be nice to see it in battle with a nVidia GTX690...:nutkick:
May the best win (and other prices statr to drop:p)
try running HWiNFO64 instead of HWiNFO32, as you are running Win 7 64-bit. You have some strange readings on the max GPU fan speed . Maybe some other readings are affected too.
You can also consider to replace the VRM stock heatsink thermal pads with some good ones and...
Wired connection @ home (Gbit network), through Cable internet, thinking about switching to the new glass fiber network soon. :rockout:
Then again, why buy a Ferrari if you cannot go full throttle? :o (or afford it?):banghead:
if i have HWiNFO64 running simultaneously with GPU-Z, I can compare the temps and HWiNFO64 calls them:
GPU Thermal Diode = GPU Temperature
GPU TS0 = (DispIO) = GPU Temp. #1
GPU TS1 = (MemIO) = GPU Temp. #2
GPU TS2 = (Shader) = GPU Temp. #3
Black is beautifull
Maybe a little too dark (just a matter of taste) but an excellent job. The rig looks fantastic.
Also some awesome cable management and routing on the back side you have there, respect!.
The cable sleeving, is it MDPC material (Du bist Deutsch glaube Ich)? I'm waiting for...
Simple thing maybe?
I'm certainly no expert, but for example my monitor needs manually to be set on VGA, DVI or HDMI input on it's OSD. Without choosing the right input, it will display nothing with the rest of the system working properly.
I think I'll go for the 8150, they seem also to be great @ running VM's which I want to try out.
For the RAM I think I'll go for the Corsair set which after doing some research, I believe will run a fraction faster because of the low CAS latency and it runs @ 1.5V (the...
Yep, but my system is powerfull enough as it is (for real life computing), with the two HD6950's full speed over 2 x PCIe 2.0 @ x16. Also in this CrossFireX configuration on this motherboard there is plenty of space to put Arctic Accelero Xtreme plus II coolers (my next upgrade).
I'll have to do a little upgrade on my son's rig.
My CPU (Phenom II x4 960T) and RAM (Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9) are going to my son's rig, together with the MB MSI 870A-G46 I've laying around collecting dust.:nutkick:
So for my rig, I'll be buying a new CPU (will be a AMD FX-xxxx) and some...
some people make their own mod :twitch:
check out this dude with his solution for VRM cooling combined with the Arctic Accelero Xtreme Plus:
Won't work in CF (too big) but it looks nice.
I'll be saving some penny's to go for...
check the last part of the quote
Sometimes we're just out of luck :banghead: and it has nothing to do with the software (BIOS). Probably a Cayman chip that is a perfect 6950 but with a small defect and thus not suitable for a 6970.
You bought the OC edition, which...
Looks great, but just like a real ferrari the 'engine' needs a huge airflow to keep cool. Take care you don't restrict the airflow around the case by placing it in a 'confined' space as shown on your pictures.
Besides a Ferrari being a great piece of technology, it is also an Italian 'show off'...
Looks like the AMD jedi was playing with his light saber, may the force be with you....:)
at least you've got quite some gain in the GPU and RAM speeds and if the temps are OK tou'll have to learn to live with it :ohwell:.
just start with the AMD Vision Engine control center for a mild OC and see what GPU and Mem speed you can reach.
Go through the forum threads and you'll see plenty of 'how to manuals' to overclock your graphic card if you want to go any further then the limits of CCC.
Don't go crazy over it, you just have no luck and your card has no unlockable shaders :(.
Also do not over-value the gain on unlocking the shaders, try overclocking to speed it up.
I've 2 identical cards with the same BIOS, one unlocks the other doesn't :banghead:.
I've got the new mainboard installed and both cards are running @ PCI-e 2.0 x 16.
In 3Dmark11 they now even exceed the hardware target score a little:nutkick:. For me this proves the PCI-e 2.0 16x/4x slots where indeed a bottleneck. CPU wise, I'll just wait for the Bulldozer updates...
I have my new Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev 1.0 @ home :rockout:. Unfortunately I'm abroad for work this and upcoming week, so the rig rebuilding has to wait a little :shadedshu.
I'll post again when I've installed it and tested the CF setup.
Did you remove the old graphic card drivers before installing the new card?
Your MB is equipped with Dr.Debug, did you check for codes (page 50 - 53 of your manual)?
Also check in your BIOS that PCI-e is not set to GEN 3 (you have a PCI-e 2.0 card)
This I didn't know yet, but this platform will serve me for the upcoming time, providing the CF issue is solved.
Abandoning the AM3+ platform also can end up in FX CPU's on sale.
Also take in consideration they still have to improve their chip manufactering with these 32nm chips, to coope with...
Thanx to all of you for your replies, remarks and comments.
Hardheaded as I am, I'll still jump in the deep and go for the FX990 chip set option to fully benefit the 32 PCI-e lanes in CF and future wise be able to 'upgrade' the CPU for the ability to use the 3.1 Hyper Transport @ 2,2GHz...
Also I've read more reviews that I can remember. It is also very hard to value them as there are a lot of peeps talking nonsens and my knowledge of software/hardware relations is limited.:ohwell: One thing is for sure: all items in a PC are related and every change has impact on several other...
