Is OC'ing a Micro ATX worth it?

Perfect, That's the info i'm looking for. 4.7 is decent and reasonable but if that's my ceiling I'm not going crazy on the mobo unless I wild hare a Asus Gene. Thank you very much quantitative info, 4.7 is a number I can handle on a reasonable build. Indeed, :) ... Well it comes down to do i...

Is OC'ing a Micro ATX worth it?

Ummm disagree with you dude... mosfets, power draw and the ability for bigger atx to pull more power matter. Several posts confirm it. In fact look at the fact that most ATX boards use 2.0-2.1volt RAM and most MATX use 1.5~1.65 volt RAM. Full ATX simply can pull more power/wattage/volts. Also...

    what is a better cpu

Cool looking, I like the front. I have a NZXT Vulcan (in the box) that I Love but barely used lol. I used it like 3 weeks. I now have an Aerocool Dead Silence cube, I build mostly MicroATX. http://www.aerocool.us/ds/ds_red.html I like the Areocool cause the board lays horizontal not vertical...

Is OC'ing a Micro ATX worth it?

Thanks, I am leaning towards the Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5 or the Asus GENE. The Gigabyte has only 4 digital phases. I was looking at the MSI because it's 8 phased but it's a digi/analog hybrid. The price differs from all three greatly at about $50 difference each starting with the...

    what is a better cpu

yes get an SSD for sure... and remember there is actually an recommended amount of RAM formula per Microsoft. It is the number of cores x the frequency per core = recommended amount of RAM. For example an oc'd i5 at 4.5ghz per core x four cores = 18GB of RAM (probably be ok with 16) Just a thought

    what is a better cpu

Those games don't require much IMO. I have an i3 550 that plays Skyrim (no mods) on ultra at 60FPS with an MSI OC edition 7870 overclocked to 1225mhz/1450mhz and get a solid 60FPS at 1680x1050 all day long. It's not the highest scores but it does well and that is only a dual core cpu. In fact...

    what is a better cpu

Well, it's a little more tricky than that because it depends on you :). See about 99% of the games out there are only able to use 2 cores (with the exception of games like Civilization Five, Oblivion, Wow with hack and a hand full of other Real Time Strategy games ) and even LESS use hyper...

    Building a Pc for Crunching.

Personally, I love my Seasonic X650 gold. It's rated at 60amps and actually pulls over 70amps in testing. It has a single rail, fully modular, lifetime warranty (I believe) and you can get them now for about $120.00 I got mine for @$225.00 3 years ago so that's a good deal lol...

Is OC'ing a Micro ATX worth it?

Hi all, I have been overclocking video cards for years but never a CPU. I'm stepping up to a new build soon and getting ideas together. I Think am going i7-Haswell and probably the 4790K DC.. .(unless Devils Canyon is not worth it???). I have also been looking at the main contenders (ASUS...

Can I overclock this/how can I do it?

Not much on the AMD side since Thunderbird (AMD K7) but good-great overclocking goes hand in hand with a good budget to lots of $$. On the Intel side, good to heavy overclocking is synonymous with spend more money. lol

Help: Flashing Galaxy GTX 660 TI Dual Bios

Actually from what I've read the GTX 660 TI and GTX 670 are the exact same 106 Chip and in most cases PCB and the only difference is the ROPS and the memory Bit rate. Here is proof > http://www.anandtech.com/show/6159/the-geforce-gtx-660-ti-review Look at the specs for both on page one and...

Help: Flashing Galaxy GTX 660 TI Dual Bios

Thanks Erocker ! and eidairaman, Yes Erocker I was pleased :)... so far i'm very impressed with Galaxy. The GTX 650ti Boost I tried first was very nice but I needed more punch in Neverwinter. Hardware Kanucks reports a 1375Mhz Core and 6664Mhz Memory (1666Mhz) on that card but I'm not an...

Help: Flashing Galaxy GTX 660 TI Dual Bios

Hi Guy's thanks for reply.... ok that's what I thought. No not interested in bricking my board but was interested if it was possible. I personally didn't think it was possible but wasn't sure because back in the day you could flash a 6850 to a 6870 and was wondering if it was the same case. I...

Help: Flashing Galaxy GTX 660 TI Dual Bios

Hello all welcome to thread, I just purchased a Galaxy GTX 660 TI GC today and so far loving it. Over clocking it as we speak. So far at +50Mv Core, 110% power limit and 1345Mhz Core on Boost that's up from 1210Mhz GC stock Boost. Will post final clocks for memory and GPU core later. On with...

NVIDIA Announces the GeForce GTX 660 Ti

If that one game is good for you than cool, I'm glad you like and can get what you want out of the card... but can you say the same when you look at Skyrium ? If you get the amped version yes. Alls I am saying (and not trying to pick on you or say your wrong) is to be aware that all games are...

NVIDIA Announces the GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Perhaps you got me all wrong, I know Nivida tesselation handling is better and has been since the 460... that's why I made the point to mention that is better and that it is better in BF3... it's also one of the reasons why I prefer the Nvidia cards over ATI/AMD. I said just ONE, there are many...

NVIDIA Announces the GeForce GTX 660 Ti

Battlefield 3 is not really a fair assesment as it's always gonna run nicer on the Nivida it's specially tuned for it and Nvidia's Tessallation handling is better and better in that game as well. Same could be said for Skyrim results because that game is tuned for AMD; however, If I'm correct...

560 TI 2GB vs 7850.. what specs won't tell you.

Dude … It wasn't an aftermarket heat-sink it was stock. I never put an aftermarket heat sink on that card that was the stock heat sink with the problems and I'm not paying close to $300.00 for that garbbage. If Diamond is getting ATI reference heat-sinks machined that badly and putting them out...

560 TI 2GB vs 7850.. what specs won't tell you.

Yeah I would have loved to put them on The Secret World, direct X11, tessallations, good AA options, MMO, full rendering, etc etc. In fact, that was a main game reason to purchase the cards and it would have been a good test but the game launch got pushed back and the video cards had to go back...

560 TI 2GB vs 7850.. what specs won't tell you.

Yea, if you read that thread you'll see was somewhat itching to put the work into it too but I was back in forth about lapping it. I've lapped before but it came down to 1. Worried about that small ledge and no body reported doing it yet and 2. it was barely 3 days old when I discovered it and...

560 TI 2GB vs 7850.. what specs won't tell you.

Awsome post for 1 reason, It confirms I'm glad I didn't lap mine ;) lolz.... yeah mine was machined horribly aslo. Mine was installed well and actually had high grade silverite thermal compound. The problem was that the cooper base on the heat sink looked like a finger print. :( I thought you...
