    THanks so far guys I have not long added an SSD so I am happy with the rest of my PC for the moment, its just GFX, so was looking for the best I could get for my board :)

    Yeah, directly, both plugs are ok as they powered my 8800s no problems, i have put it down as a dead card, so am looking for a new one

    I have a gtx 295, but its not powering, I thought that would be down to the PCI express, guess thats just a duff card

    no my friend you can't, not from a normal retail disc Unless you have a volume license label, but this is mainly used in schools or business use.

    The colours that you mention when loadin windows would normally point to a graphics or memory issue. If your motherboard has onboard GFX try running off that and if the colours still appear try sawpping the RAm, or if you do not have any spare download and run MEMtest, had a very similar issue...
